Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I think his thread confuses the 310hp STC with O3.  They are not equivalent.  You can add the STC to any Ovation but it is much more extensive to fully convert an older model to an O3.  A O3 is a model that rolled out of the Kerrville factory with 310hp but it also has the O3 paint job with O3 badges, some interior improvements like the improved fwd cup holders etc and the GFC700 autopilot which is built into the G1000.  The GFC700 autopilot alone is a huge difference.  Much better than all the previous APs.

All Ovation 3s have 310hp and the G1000.

Not all 310hp Ovations are Ovation 3s. Many are Ovations and Ovation 2s that have the 310hp STC.

This is technically correct. Although most refer to their STC'd Ovations as "Ovations 3's" but I believe prior to Mooney acquiring the STC, it was a "Standing Ovation". My 1994 Ovation (STC'd) was listed for sale as an "Ovation 3". I had to explain to the broker that Mooney didn't make "Ovations 3's" is 1994.......

Ovation 2’s with the STC ought to be called Ovation 3++’s since they aren’t limited to the G1000. :D

Hmmm not quite. Ovation 2 GX is an Ovation 2 with the G1000.

But wasn’t the GX variant certified with the 1000? If so, it suffers the same avionics restriction as the 3. So my logic still stands! (Besides it was a joke!) :D

After putting the flightstream 210 in my g1000, there is no avionic upgrade that I covet.
the system is incredible.

What capabilities does the flightstream add that you find the most valuable?

The transference of flight plans, and the automatic finding of transitions on the airways.
atc never provides transitions for airways and you have to figure it out.
not a big deal when they give you your planned route, but when your holding short and get an amendment, or four or five reroutes while leaving south Florida it’s a pia.
the flight stream eliminates that.
it is incredible, and the only think I really miss from the NXI.

I have the flight stream 510 and I appreciate the fact that at home I can file my flight plan from foreflight.   I then bring the iPad to the plane and after starting it and turning on the electronics the iPad will transfer the Flight plan to my GTN 750 XI which shares it with the 650 XI.  Wireless data transfer, flight plan transfer, data base concierge, entertainment control and phone integration as it works with garmin pilot and foreflight.  Anything that helps while flying IFR is a plus.
