based on the N number it is probably 1975-76 ish and most likely electric gear

So, do you think the lawnmower chain came undone right when they needed to use it? I should probably test mine at annual.

No chains in the electric gear system on an F.   E gear extension is part of annual.   And in my mind the pilot should try it on the ground, so you don't try it the first time in the air.     It adds some work load and should be done outside the pattern.

The only lawn mower chain in my electric C is attached to the (manual) trim wheel.
