Brian Scranton Posted March 14, 2018 Report Posted March 14, 2018 I brought the plane in for its annual yesterday--new A&P on the field; my guy got kicked off the airport (that's a story for another thread). Anyway, I explained that on run up, when the engine is cold, the engine lags/burps/backfires once as I advance past 2000 rpm...my previous A&P thought it was a stuck valve. Anyway, the new guy watched me do it and then said he saw 12 inches of flames coming out my exhaust during the exercise. I've also had other strange FP fluctuation issues that I thought was vapor lock...turns out, my fuel servo, which hasn't been touched since 1994 (or longer) is beginning to take a crap! Crazy.
EricJ Posted March 14, 2018 Report Posted March 14, 2018 I had some major issues that all cleared up after a fuel servo rebuild. They sent back the old gaskets and diaphragms and it was clear that there had been water standing inside the thing for a long time at some point. Now it starts easy and runs much better.
