Access in a 77' 201

We start my adsb install tomorrow and I need to run wires from the tail to the panel. I told the avionics guy I would take the seats and the side panel out to cut down on time. Looking at my side panel it looks like I'll need to take the back seat out to get to all the screws.

 

I really really don't want to have to take my back seat out. I was told there is an access panel from the belly of a Bravo so you can access the kick panel on the copilots side. And you wouldn't have to take the inside panel out.

 

Is there access through the belly of a 201 like that? There might be more screws in the belly but at least I'm smart enough and have the patients to take them apart vs the back seat and side panel.

I would pull the inside panel and back seat. I try to make things as fast and easy for my IA to work even if that means a few skinned knuckles and some extra time.

I have a 77'J. You need to remove the back bench and side panels in order to install  the wire properly and tie / bundle them for no chafing. Pulling the wires is in my opinion not a good idea. Removing bench and side panels is not difficult to do, but a pain. The most difficult are actually the panels around the manual gear extension handle.

Needs to be done right.

On my J the upper panels all have screws, the lower are carpeted, anybody know how are they attached?

If you have a 77 you can unbolt the locking bolts about midway up the bench seat back.  Then rotate carefully down and you can get the side panels out without removing the entire seat back - which is the most painful part of the entire interior to reinstall.   You might then be able to remove the bottom trim and slide the carpet panels out without removing the entire interior plastic.   Depends mostly on how old and flimsy the panels backing the carpet are.
