KLN-89B

I have a kln-89b with a pretty sun damaged display. Is it possible to just replace the display or is that something that would require the whole unit to be replaced?

Displays are discontinued long ago.  It's a king thing.  I just sold a whole kln-89b for 500$ that's the going rate.

Another option is the KLN 94. It's plug and play and you can find them for a reasonable cost on eBay or avionics shops.

Great, I guess I'm in the market for a KLN 94 now if it's just an easy swap.

Are you talking about the lens or the electronic display?

It seems to just be the clear lease. The display works just fine. It's just hard to read sometimes due to the poor condition of the lense

If they are not available you can just remove the lens. It would be better then what you have now. You may be able to fabricate one with a little mill work.

LCD screens have a polarized film so you can read them,  my digital clock/timer looked like that. You can buy a polarized film sheet with adhesive, I got mine from a guys that repairs cell phones and tablets. After cleaning the old stuff off I laid the new piece on it for orientation, it has to be kept square and if you rotate the film 90° it will invert the colors. Cheap fix (10 bucks) for an over priced $500 clock

Five minutes and an allen wrench and you have a decent color moving map. Here is one for sale on Barnstormers for a pretty good price.

Click on this link - hit the contact button. If you measure exactly the size you need she can make you the lens. (put the unit, take the front bezel off and measure the inside dimensions of the lens). Or after you pull the front off, pop out the lens, mail it to her and she will duplicate it.

Hawk - if you still need this, send me a PM.  I have a KLN89B unit that I can part with...will be at the hangar later this afternoon and will snap a pic and you can see if it's something you still want.  The display is a solid 8/10, IIRC.
