kmyfm20s Posted August 1, 2017 Report Posted August 1, 2017 You can check the gear horn inflight by pulling your throttle to idle and having the gear up. Some are activate by MP over like my S are activate by position of the throttle linkage. Sorry if this has already been mention. I read over the thread quickly. Many Mooney's have speed brakes. Speed brakes can inadvertently cause gear up landings for 2 reasons. 1. Give you the sensation of the gear being down and 2. Require to advance throttle overcome the drag on final to deactivate the warning. This can be an additional reason Mooney's have a higher incidence of gear up landings.

This picture I randomly found on the internet. -Robert Then it should be in the POH, but looking at a later '75 M20F POH I can't find any mention it. All it says at 2-8 and 7-8 is that the horn sounds with a MAP of 15" or less if the gear is still up. Nor does it show button for it on the panel page that list everything installed by Mooney. Perhaps a Mooney approved kit modification?

Got any more info on this? would like to learn about the details. There's not one in my electric C, nor the electric F that I have a dozen or so landings in. Never heard of one until just now. Some do have ever an override button of some sort, tied into the airspeed switch that is intended to prevent inadvertent retraction, I think . . .
