Dream to fly Posted April 1, 2017 Report Posted April 1, 2017 What is the best way to get rid of the strobe and power supply for the beacon. The noise is driving me crazy. I'd like to switch to all LEDS but I am finding sets for several thousand dollars and I think that is a little steep. I can built a super nova LED module that fits but I am sure the FAA will have a fit. any suggestions would be great. Quote
Garryowen Posted April 1, 2017 Report Posted April 1, 2017 We just replaced the rotating beacon in my buddies bonanza with this Whelen LED. His old mechanical one was interfering with an aft mounted autopilot computer. Super bright. From the website: 90520 series LED beacons are FAA TSO compliant self-contained LED anti-collision lights (Ref. Class III 100 effective candlepower). They are designed to replace strobe lightheads as small as the A470A with available models to replace HR self-contained beacons (HRCFA) or our legacy 70900 LED beacon. Mounting plate included with assembly. Quote
Dream to fly Posted April 1, 2017 Author Report Posted April 1, 2017 That is exactly what I was looking for. thanks. Quote
dlthig Posted April 1, 2017 Report Posted April 1, 2017 You should have some type of a noise filter. It may help if you replaced it. I had a similar problem on my Cherokee. Quote
M20F Posted April 2, 2017 Report Posted April 2, 2017 Mine started doing it for about 2 months and I kept meaning to do something about it. Then it just fixed itself. Best fix I have had in awhile. I am sure something is loose somewhere. Quote
Marauder Posted April 2, 2017 Report Posted April 2, 2017 I replaced all of my strobes with the Whelen LED versions this winter (including the belly strobe listed above). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote

Yeah, the tail was done as well. It was not wired correctly and am having the avionics shop correcting it while they are running L-3 active traffic antenna. The amount of light thrown off is amazing.
