TerryDubYa Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 Group, I started repairing the plastic panels in my J and, upon removal of the rear seat plastic pan, discovered a mess of duct tape covering the top of the spar and the access panels aft of the spar. Is this something the factory did, or just a bandaid that a previous owner or A&P had used? Terry Edwards, CA Quote

Yetti Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 alum. HVAC tape http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Adhesives/Tapes/Products/~/3M-Aluminum-Foil-Tape-425?N=5472880+3291638463+3293241744&rt=rud The regular duct tape can degrade and hold water and such. Acetone to clean up the sticky mess or goo gone. 1 Quote
TerryDubYa Posted February 8, 2017 Author Report Posted February 8, 2017 Thanks, guys. I'll try the suggested acetone and alu tape before reinstalling the seat pan. Quote
