Exhaust system overhaul

You've got to be feeling pretty good right now.  After seeing what others paid, the $825 really seemed reasonable....$578 is really good!  I hope when mine needs overhaul it will be as reasonable a price.

Any one knows of a source for the tail pipe exhaust support spring?  I have checked with MSCs and salvage yards.

Who needs them?

I have a company that will make them for me but to be economical I need to order at least 24. $20 ea.

I want 6 of them.

Current pricing update:

Repair muffler with broken baffles: 750.00

New tailpipe to replace old one with holes:441.00

Labor: 425.00

Out the door with tax anf shipping charges: 1770.00

Reason for even looking at the exhaust: popping on idle. (After bore scoping low time engine, cyl, and inspecting valves, etc.)

That should make everyone else on this thread feel much better.

I have a Knisley after-market exhaust system on J (was on it when I bought it). When I needed to get my muffler repaired due to missing flame cones, I got the quotes from the usual suspects and ended up buying a new muffler outright for about $550 including shipping. Make sure you check new prices before paying for an overhaul!
