cliffy Posted December 13, 2016 Author Report Posted December 13, 2016 Who was it that responded to the question of where his shot went said, "well, it was a bullseye when it left here!" :-) Quote

cliffy Posted December 13, 2016 Author Report Posted December 13, 2016 No IIRC it was John Glenn in the military but now I'm really scraping the barrel to remember this one! :-) Cognitive issues? :-) Yes I do go back to the first Mercury flights, I even have the newspapers from then. Maybe someone else has a better cognitive skills. Quote

bonal Posted December 13, 2016 Report Posted December 13, 2016 They had documentary last night on AHCH about the Mercury and Gemini missions I was too young to remember Mercury but do recall being fascinated during Gemini. Those were some incredible accomplishments by some incredible pilots and engineers. Talk about and accelerated flight regime such a short number of missions to get to the moon. Quote
cliffy Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 Many may not remember but in the beginning the engineers of the Mercury capsule had the stick to push forward for up and pull back for down. The astronauts felt this was an issue because of their previous flight training (can't imagine why?) . Told the engineers and they said tough tooties, that's the way it is. All 7 boycotted the mission until that was changed. They won! 1 Quote
