Yup. Mine are in the back of the airplane as well, with a bit of speedtape over the holes. I've found you can easily tie down to the main wheel trusses.

Where do you attach the tie down hooks you usually find? I don't think I would feel comfortable attaching to anything but the tow pipe or whatever it's call, bending any of the struts would be an expensive mistake.

Yes on Loctite... for some reason the threads do not allow a tight tourque.  Once the screw was all in, there was no cinching further.  Kinda weird.

Mine are in the wings, except when the plane is on jacks. Remove tie down ring, install jack point; then reverse after lowering back onto the gear.

Lasar said you don't need to remove the loops to jack the plane. I asked because ours went missing.

LASAR makes combo units; I have the traditional tie down rings, which live in the wings not the hat rack.

It depends on the jack they are using. One of mine went missing as well after an annual and another time I found both of them bent after coming back from an annual.

at last annual, the AI cross threaded a bolt and jacked it up with all loads on the threads.. ultimately, it ruined the threads and the tie down ring will not thread in anymore.. I had thought about gooping the threads with jb weld and tapping new threads...   Or, can the piece of aluminum under the skin be easily replaced?  I'm guessing it is riveted in and can't be replaced easily.

Is there a reason you haven't asked the IA to repair this for you?

this was a MSC so I would assume they know what they're doing. I've assumed wrong before though. The left one was barely finger tight so I put some blue loctite on them. I pity the next guy that removes them.

to be honest, I just wanted his hands off my plane.. he dented and scratched up several places...

I had thought about that, but doesn't corrosion accelerate when steel and aluminum are touching?  I'd rather not cause corrosion to start, especially where it is so hidden.
