Is the Hobbs meter that is located on the side of the center console (by the co-pilot's left leg) actually Tach time or Hobbs time (battery on to off)? There is no meter on the tach gauge.

If it is Hobbs and not tach time, how do I get an accurate tach time?

Your POH will have that answer in it under the description of the tach. Mooney has made so many changes to this system you would deserve a masters degree to know them all....

Airspeed switch, Hall effect switch, squat switch, oil pressure switch or direct drive...

Somebody posted your same question...here....

According to that thread, a Hall effect switch can tell when the engine is running. An electric clock (Hobbs meter) is hooked to the switch counting engine hours while the engine is running? Or is it counting revolutions??? Back to the POH...

The O uses an oil pressure switch with an electric clock. The electric clock is mounted in the baggage compartment out of view of the owner....

The older airframes use a revolution counter that is displayed in a slightly erroneous engine or tach 'time'.

One question, why would you want that?
