kerry Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 I had to install a new tach cable and I need to reseal the hole it travels through the firewall. I was thinking of using 100% silicone. Before going with the silicone I was wondering what others have used. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 I would think whatever you use should be fire resistant, hence the name., if using silicone get the fire resistant kind. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 It originally used MIL-P8116B zinc chromate putty. You can still find it if you look hard enough. Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 I got some true firewall sealant from a vendor in Wichita, but can't remember their name. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
Piloto Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 I have used marine grade silicon with good results. Make sure the cable is clamped to the engine mount to minimize movement through the firewall hole. José Quote

Before going with the silicone I was wondering what others have used. The orange, high-temp stuff. I think you can get it at Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc. as it is used in car engines as well. Quote
