bonal Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 We have a very distructive wild fire burning in the El Cajon pass area and news reports tell of air attack having to stand down due to drones flying in the airspace. This is the third time this season that this has happened and even a few minutes delay could allow what was a managible fire to turn into a major outbreak. Stupid is as stupid does.
cbarry Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 Wow. What blatant disregard for an emergency situation! Each and every drone operator that is found to be in willful violation of the obvious TFR should be prosecuted just as any manned aircraft's pilot would be. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. 2
bradp Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 LASAR attacks... Of modded and PMA'd mooney parts. In all seriousness it will be too soon when some idiot with a drone takes down an aircraft. Violations of The FARs should be prosecuted t the fullest extend possible with regard to UAVs or to the same extent as manned aircraft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 A fairly simple fix would be a pressure transducer connected to the battery. If the thing goes over say 200' it turns off the power. Clarence
flyboy0681 Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 I don't know much about drone operations, but why place blame on the individual operators? Aren't they just complying with orders from senior brass?
cbarry Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 "I don't know much about drone operations, but why place blame on the individual operators? Aren't they just complying with orders from senior brass?" I don't believe military drones are being faulted in this discussion. I believe this is about recreational/civilian drones/RCs getting in the away of emergency operations. 1

If one yahoo takes out a firefighting plane, the other yahoos will just have more video to sell . . . . 1
PaulB Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 FAA needs a drone with a big net and just fly around scooping up these things. People will start learning when they loose their +$1k contraption.
MyNameIsNobody Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Why worry about drone's when there are F-16's around...
chrisk Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 This drone is armed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqHrTtvFFIs&feature=youtu.be Someone in DC must be having a heart attack! What will the TSA do? What about the next VIP TFR? I can't see this turning out well for the drone industry.
jkhirsch Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 I was going to start a new topic however this is so perfectly relevant. Picked it up on flightaware squawks this morning. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/gun-firing-drone-video-draws-federal-scrutiny/
