Bob_Belville Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 In contrast here is my experience with Bose. I got a great deal on a brand new Bose headset on ebay a couple years ago. It was listed as new at some crazy low price. Half of what a Bose normally goes for and being from ebay I wanted reassurance. Before making the purchase I called Bose tech support and had them check the serial number. The gentleman confirmed the date of manufacture. I explained to him the situation that it was from ebay and I was concerned about the warranty and if I bought it could I send it in to them to go over it and check it out. He reassured me there would be no issues with warranty and to send in registration info once I bought it. Also he proceded to give me instructions on how to send it in to get it checked out. I sent it in and had it back a week later at no charge! They didn't have to do that but they did. This shows that they stand behind their product and that they care about the customer even of I didn't buy it from them. My experience with the David Clark Company in Worcester MA is the same. They rebuilt 2 headsets that I dug out after returning to flying. The sets were 35 years old. They checked the serial #s, apologized that they were out of warranty but they could replace all the rubber and electronics for a very reasonable charge. They turned them around in a week and the sets are better than new. Quote
PTK Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 Actually my experience with David Clark is even better Bob! I have an old DC 13.2 which was showing its age. The headband was showing some corrosion around the screws, the foam was looking old etc, but working good. I wanted to keep it since it was working but it needed a facelift. I called DC and described the situation. Much to my pleasant surprise the nice lady offered to send me replacement pieces it needed at no charge. I changed them out and looks like new. So good in fact that I got an ANR kit from Headsets Inc and converted it into ANR. t's not a Bose of course but it's a great spare or pax headset. Quote
