Mark89114 Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 I am in the final stages of purchasing a Mooney Ovation and I need to find an experienced instructor to get me up to speed. I have internet searched but haven't found anybody close and also called the flight school. Any direction would be appreciated. Mark Quote
ArtVandelay Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 I got my transition training (M20J) from Nick Eberling of New Heights Aviation, he is based at Goldsboro, NC. He is in the Air Force and I believe is flying with the Thunderbirds now so he may be too busy, I can PM you his phone # if you want. Quote
carusoam Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Mark, I used a guy named Bob Cabe for Ovation specific training. He has done a fair amount of training for Mooney pilots at the factory in San Antonio. Known to travel... He helped me deliver my plane back to NJ, IFR. Great experience. Best regards, -a- Quote
Wakeup Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Where are you planning on keeping it? Not too many options in the area? Thanks Troy Quote
Will W Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I'd be glad to help. Currently in the JYO area flying an Ovation 2 DX and teach on the side very often in other aircraft that are in a flight school here. Lots of experience in Ovations with icing using TKS, oxygen (taken the thing to 17,000 ft), and lots of cross country trips over 1000 nm on a regular basis. I also teach with MAPA Safety Foundation and approximately 1500+ dual. If you're flying G1000, I would have to say I've got an exorbitant amount of flying time in that avionics suit as well as G530/G430. References available upon request. Let me know if I make the cut.
