It probably doesn't on most of those planes because most of them are carbureted.  They tend to get rough while still ROP.  I have a buddy with a TR182 (carbureted) who does have an engine monitor (930) and that technique puts him somewhere around 75 ROP with CHTs up around 425.  He flies it that way because it's by the book and what he was taught.  Lycomings seem to absorb that sort of punishment better than Continentals, at least.
