Bies7d2
I have been using flight pro (formerly avilution I think) for a few months and just noticed they stopped offering updates does anyone else use their products and know anything more about this? I like their product and there aren't many other android efbs out there.
Hank
If they're indeed gone, try Avare. Seems to work well on my Samsung tablet, with VFR, IFR and TAC charts.
KSMooniac
Just got this email: Important Message from the General CounselView this email in your browser Dear FlightPro Users and Supporters, When FlightPro was launched in April 2014, it was the culmination of the amazing work of many experienced pilots and other professionals to create the next generation, flight planning and navigation app. Since then we have released multiple updates and have many more planned that build on this vision, we are certain FlightPro has an exciting future ahead. However, we have had numerous challenges over the past several months with our legacy developers from Avilution. This group struggled to support FlightPro’s growth inline with our mission and vision, putting FlightPro well behind its planned development path. Last week, in a deliberate act by the group, they refused to push out chart updates and misdirected users in where to submit support requests. This group’s actions do not reflect the mission of FlightPro, and we therefore apologize for any confusion and inconvenience resulting from this. Support will be back up and running next week including chart updates, with a dedicated support team that is excited and ready to get going to answer the backlog of questions and support requirements. Please continue to send support requests to support@flightpro.com Our number one mission is to support our pilot community and your safety is a priority as we strive for the continuation of this mission. Thank you for your support and your understanding. Fly smart, fly safe — Shane Gordon General Counsel Copyright © 2015 FlightPro, All rights reserved. carusoam
Hard to use in IMC with a letter like that... Paper back up at a minimum? Best regards, -a-
Hank
Holy cow! Sabotage by disgruntled employees is a sad thing to see happen. Guess that's why the letter came from Avilution's lawyers. Hope everything works out for you.
FloridaMan
I wonder if I should send them an email and offer to help or if I should keep my mouth shut. I know the aviation data inside and out and have an automated process that I used for my personal analytics, and I've written some substantial Android apps as well. Sometimes developers tell employers to get fucked for good reason, and more often people start technology companies with the best of intentions and get screwed by hiring the wrong people. Most successful software companies have a superstar developer at their nucleus that attracts other talent.
Danb
Antares maybe they will pay some bucks for your experience
Marauder
Reading between the lines, the counselor stated that this group had problems keeping up with their plans. Having worked for a couple of startups early in my career, this sounds more like growing pains (read the part about "This group" in the paragraph starting with "However") and the employees retaliated. The pressure of growing a business, especially if their is seed money involved, can be hard on everyone in the company.
FloridaMan
This is why I generally stick with corporate contracts. Provided you keep adequate work in the pipeline and "make hay while the sun shits," I'm more than happy to keep my head down, mouth shut, do what I'm asked in exchange for working remotely, staying out of meetings and getting my paycheck. carusoam
There's an edit button, Antares. But that would take the humor out of the situation. Best regards, -a-
Hank
Thanks, Anthony. I almost wrote that at lunch, but was pressed for time today.
