Can anyone shed light on this C model's apparent gear extension crank and johnson bar?  Also, no heater vent above the nose wheel well. Is this normal?

I believe crank is for manual step retraction.

Correct. I had the same crank in my M20C. When it's only 180 hp, you need to be able to remove all the drag you can. I wish I had the same crank up step in my 252.
