So I have searched through a couple of different parts catalogs and cannot find this specific bracket. It is the piece of metal that matches the two holes on the inner gear door fairing that also attaches to the strut itself. Please help me in identifying it and let me know if you have a spare you'd be willing to sell (left gear side broke). Model aircraft and part number would be great. Thanks ahead of time!

My suggestion is to take the broken one, and the one off the right side, to a local welder for repair. He can use the good one to make sure the dimensions stay correct.

When complete, you can zinc chromate it yourself or just paint it any color you want.

To be 100% legal, have your mechanic inspect the weld and sign off your logbooks.

Thought about it but it pretty thin aluminum. Not sure if it can be welded. And it was rusted in the first place so I need a new one. Didn't know if it was an obvious part to someone else.

The green strip is more likely to be 4130 steel than aluminum.  Measure it to see what thickness and width it is and then you can order a 3ft piece from Aircraft Spruce for a few dollars.

Is it an M20J?  What is the serial number?  The M20J parts catalog has a separate drawing for the main gear for SN 24-3000 through 24-3078 which has a bracket that looks sort of like that.  All other serial numbers use two brackets.  The part number is 550089-503.

Mine too. I'm pretty sure that that's not stock.

A used OEM spacer is currently for sale on eBay for $100. Search on "M20J". You need two per side though.

What do the spacers look like on your other main gear? The same or different?

The bracket seen is still good and is on the right side. The left side (broken side) is identical. I posted this hoping it would jump out at someone but it seems like that isn't the case. I looked at the part you are talking about mooniac but that is not it unfortunately. Just sounds like it will have to be fabricated.

At some point they changed from two machined spacers to the steel bracket.  My '77 has the spacers, which I had to grind down slightly when fitting the composite lower gear doors.  My '81 salvage J had the steel brackets...perhaps they were added later for a gear-up repair or something.

If it were me, I'd just get the old one welded.  Perfectly legal repair, and it isn't a part that will cause you to crash anyway if it fails.  Just sand off the rust and re-prime it after welding.

if it's not available anymore you can duplicate it under the owner manufactured parts rule.
