Ok ... It was the second temple ... Got it ... Solomons temple was destroyed by the Babylonians. Jesus, another unwanted child, accurately predicted the complete destruction of that second temple, but of course you think he should've had his brains sucked out before birth. And Solomon, the unwanted child, just had a couple goats ...

Apparently you don't comprehend very well. Under what supposedly is a left over wall of your second temple, as you claim, gold coins dating to a much later period have been found. The wall in question is not part of the "second temple". Found by isreali archeologists, so I don't think they had an agenda.

Yeah, how stupid was that?

Hey,

It was one of yours that said it in defense of most draconian anti-choice law on the books wanting to remove ability to get an abortion in case of rape, incest or health of the mother.

So you're not denying that your dream reality is filled with poor, starving masses looking forward to their Sunday sermons to be spoon feed fairy tales of  reward in the afterlife for their suffering. Just making sure we see the future the same way.

John, yes, I am jaded. My appetite for bullshit from left or right is zero. You serve bullshit. They serve bullshit. My world is run by cold hard numbers.

Everyone finds their path, the closer they get to "the home office". Libs more than anyone, usually scrambling around at the last minute.

Has it ever occurred to you, for even a moment, that many of us are not looking to ever lasting life? Why is it so hard to comprehend that some are just wired to need bullshit? My grandpa died without ever making his peace. 2 days before he died, when asked is he wanted a priest, his words were "keep that fucking pederast away from me". He chuckled. Then pressed the morphine pump. Few times I thought I was going to die, I don't recall making any deals with the Lord. There is actually quite a bit of time when you lose an engine up high. It's not even that busy for a while. I looked around. I listened to the ATC tapes. Cool as a cucumber. Even cracked a joke with the controller. He didn't laugh. I don't actually even remember getting that excited other than my hypothermia incident. That was some interesting shit. Pretty awesome hallucinations.

I get it, you need your "morphine". Any particular reason why you must feel compelled to create "heaven on earth" for the rest of us. Can't you wait?

The two times I thought I was going to meet my maker (Northridge earthquake and a near "hit" over the Verrazano bridge) I didn't have time to think about anything else but the situation I was in.

You and your family are "wanted."

For those "unwanted" ... They are fodder ... Try to kill them before they are born. But in case you don't kill them in time ... and they are born. Then form a socialist government to give them just enough free $hit ... to keep them from revolting, uprising and disturbing your world and your elite families world of "wanted" people, while you make yourself rich. Have a few nice cars. We die. And that's life.

You really make a great case.

How could we not leave that horrible Christian religion where we love one another, forgive each other, have a new family in Christ, share our possessions to those in need ... when we could have that great vision of life you possess?

We're all fodder...Some are born luckier than others...Then we die...

The world could use a tad less of your "love". It would be a lot more peaceful of a place.

"You only live once"......"I'm doing it today, baby"......"we could all be gone tomorrow"....."What day is it, Piglet? Well, it's today, Pooh"....."live for the now"...... all mean nothing, without a reason.

Or as Frank Sinatra once said, "you only live once, and if you lived like I have, once is enough".

I didn't need a reason when I was 3, I don't need a reason now. Nothing has changed. Wake up, eat something, go dig in the sand, eat something, go dig in more sand, eat something, come, go to sleep. Never mind, one thing did change ;-)

I find it funny that less a person knows what to do with this life the more they look forward to the next, everlasting one. It all means nothing. You weren't here before you were born, you won't be here after you die. Does it bother you weren't here 200 years ago, keeps you up at night? Then why does it keep you up at night that you most likely won't be here 200 years from now. You will be recycled, promptly. On atomic level there is not much left of what you started with anyway. Been replaced many times over. How often does God upload your brain to the cloud anyway? If you die today, what's the latest back up you will get? What if you stroke out and the backup moneys in heaven overwrite last good backup with your new damaged, drool all over your shirt, self? That's a pretty crappy eternity. The devil they say is in the details. And if God created us in his image, then I wouldn't trust his IT department anymore than I trust mine today.

I am not being adversarial or confrontational. Everybody sees life through their own set of binoculars.

I get it. I am, only, because too much of out policy is faith based, here and around the world (middle east, anyone, anyone). I could not care less what you and anyone else believes in as long as I don't have to subsidize the buildings, which I do now.

Anyways, explain to me the technical details of my brain download into the next life. Very interested. Quantum theory? Only plausible explanation and not a very appealing one at that.

Here's the rub, it's how many people live. We have stripped prayer from schools, removed god from public places and you say religious protections are the problem? We have succeeded as a people for 150 years under the realm of basic Judean-Christian mores and values, but seem to think there is a better way.

The after life? What you make of it. All three of the world's religions are steeped in the mystery of faith. What you put in, you get out. Is there a special place for us? I don't know, but the life you value more, seems to have greater purpose.

My personal point of view is when the lights go out - they are out. No afterlife, no heaven and no hell.

One day we'll know. Maybe there was just a big explosion and our world just came together? No plan. No Master designer. No Creator. And we just evolved from blobs ...

That's what I can't reconcile. If we rose from the muck strictly by chance because everything somehow came together, then how would that explain males and females? Seems to me that just one creature would have been created as a result. And then I can't help to think that animals are so incredibly complex that they couldn't have simply evolved from just a single cell. When you look at the complexity of DNA alone it's hard to believe that it too came together solely by chance. How about eyesight, kidneys and every other complex bodily system. How did they possibly evolve to work perfectly each day of its hosts life?

This subject blows my mind just as much as thinking about space going on for infinity.

And guess what. Most of the people who live that way still share 90% of the basic Judean-Christian mores and values. I do. Do you really think I need the bible to tell me don't kill, don't steal, don't assault. I just think they are silly when it comes to things like sex (God seems to be very obsessed with it, is it not possible we created him in Our image) and variety of other little guilty pleasures. Some of the things are down right silly. But to each their own. You however cannot deny that organized religion has been used a force for evil in the past, is being used in the present and will be used in the future. It is very easy to convince the faithful as a whole to commit or at the very least, support major atrocities. I don't like "group think". It scares me.

All evidence points in that direction. It makes life even that much more precious. I'm just giving you shit because I am not a big fan of literal interpretation of the bible. But if it gives you peace at night, that's fine.

I am glad my parents chose to copulate and give me life. I am even more glad to have had the opportunity to create two beautiful children. They are the best of both my wife and I. I am proud that they are my children. I get emotional just thinking about the day that I become a grand parent.

It is sad that all that produce life do not so value the potential.

It is even sadder that millions have been denied the chance to live life.

I prefer to dwell in the here and now.

I am enjoying the ride.

Scott,

Do you really think that most women who have an abortion do it for "fun" or because they don't value life? They do it because of economics and complete lack of support and ability to raise any more children at that point in their life. They do it because their prick of a husband or boyfriend already abuses them and their existing children and they do not see their lives improving. They do it for variety of reasons, but trust me, most of them are due to desperation.

Most of them are not liberal, well to do, agnostic heathens that use it as birth control as I think some of you think.

I know, I know personal responsibility and all. Be happy and consider yourself lucky you had decent parents that gave you good upbringing, a good set of values and good DNA so that your impulse control was fairly decent and started at a young age. Many of these women had none of that.

All evidence? Far from it. Way more evidence we are created ...

Dave,

This is why the theory of evolution is the prevailing scientific theory, it works, it's the basis of most of the medical scientific discovery for past 70 years. Even the Catholic church accepts it. You can have a disagreement about what started it all but if you truly believe in the literal biblical account of Adam and Eve, clay and ribs, then we should stop having this conversation. It will go nowhere. We share 99% of DNA with chimps. Don't want to do this anymore.

I tend to agree. I think most women agonize when deciding what to do.

But we are not a Judeo-Christian nation. In fact the Founding Fathers were specifically trying to avoid any religious influence. All the references to "in God we trust" on the money and "one nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance was inserted in the McCarthy era 1950s which was rife with some serious anti-American behavior, accusations, character assassinations, and downright shameful events. McCarthy himself was an alcoholic and a womanizer.

I find it funny how the Religious Right is always trying to insert "good Christian values" into laws and claiming persecution. Tell you what, you can hate homeosexuals, blacks, women, poor people all you want. That's your right. Homosexuals may want to get married and share property, enjoy all the protections under the law that you do with your wife, I believe that's their right. Married in a legal sense I really don't care what the religious organizations call it. Adam and Steve getting married doesn't affect you. But when you pass a law that blocks their granting such a legal status, it goes so much farther. You are limiting their civil rights, they aren't limiting yours. That's the key difference. Now apply this to blacks, Jews, women, poor folks. They are the ones under attack.

The baker who holds himself out to the public yet refuses to make a cake for a gay couple. Who is persecuted? Does the baker get to say that he doesn't bake cakes for Muslims or Jews? Maybe he doesn't want to hire them either. Maybe airlines too. White Christians only. John mentioned earlier a slippery slope off an ice cliff.

I used to go to church and was a good little boy and got saved, came on down to get re-baptized at the tent revival the whole bit. Even married myself a small town Oklahoma preacher's daughter. But some, thing didn't sit right and it took me a few years to understand what it was. If Jesus told us to love thy neighbor and to do into others, then why all the hate and evil spewing forth. Why the mention of the "N" word only in polite company? Why all the calls to invade sovereign nations to destroy their way of life and their process along with a hundred thousand or so of their citizens. Iraq here, not Afghanistan. Why to the call to do it again? Why did organized religion protect thousands of known pedophiles and allow it to happen? People wonder why church attendance among my generation is the lowest of any. Probably because the smell is too great to bear. Keep this smell away from the law.

What is most ironic about the McCarthy era is that the hearings were called Committee for "un-American" activities. What was more un-American than those hearings?

True, but I'm a conservative so that's why I believe what he said is true. I think we need true conservatives to get us back on track, conservative leaders unlike any we have ever had, that explain to the public what freedoms you give up for "free stuff".

Oh, like government intrusion into the bedroom telling me who I can and cannot marry and who I can and cannot have sex with? Lovely.

Thanks but no thanks.
