My 201 will be in the avionics shop next week for a few tweeks and I was considering refurbishing the yokes while she is down. I did a cursory search on the forums looking for suggested methods of refinishing and had very little luck locating any info.

What other suggestions for refinishing - Repaint? Leather wrap? Epoxy dip? Other ideas for keeping it simple and reasonably priced? I don't need a $700 finish as was mentioned in one post.

Thanks,

Tim

I powdercoated mine then added the grips with PTT from aircraft spruce. the other option i was considering was leather wrapping them but I would have had to go with a custom wrap to get the look I wanted with a PTT option.

Tim,

I recently had my 1970 F yokes powder coated and like the results. Don't have any pics right at the moment, but it was well worth it.

I beadblasted mine and had them powdercoated.  I think I paid the powdercoater $50.  He had several finishes, smooth, wrinkled, speckled ect.

Looked on Aircraft Spruce and they say your type grip is for 64 and older. Mine is a 77'. I wonder if these would work on my application? I like how yours turned out.

I called Warren Gregoire and this style grip will not work on the later models. Guess it will be a straight powder coat and reinstall.

Thanks, Tim

I think they would work on the copilots side, but probably not the pilots side due to the wing leveler disconnect button.

I did have the Aircraft Spruce SX-101 add-on grip  with PTT on my 64 "E" model but it did not have PC.   The grips worked well on both yokes in that plane.

The pilot's left side grip would take some clever modification to work with the yoke-mounted PC button.
