carusoam Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 It's more about the volume of oil... The oil drains out of the system over time. The small gear pump needs to fill the void before the pressure can build. More RPM delivers more oil. But, overall there isn't a large percentage difference between 1,800 and 2,000 rpm... The second time, the empty volume is already filled. The time it takes, is related to the time the system requires to close the valve and build pressure... Sticking to the minimum end of the recommended rpm is friendlier to the plane regarding sand blasting issues. The operation of a gear pump prefers high viscosity liquids...but the liquid needs to be present for it to work... Best regards, -a- Quote
