Bill Dunn Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Tom, I don't do the quoting but I will see if I can get you some preliminary numbers. We are actually going to have the Bendix/King rep come to the shop and do a demo on the 770 as soon as we get enough customers that want to come se it.
Bill Dunn Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 I love having both the GDL 88 and the GDL 69A. Since they were installed at the same time, the extra install cost wasn't that much. Also, I got the GDL 69A used ($1,200) very discounted from a shop in Australia, where they don't have XM and had pulled it from a plane they got from the US. I'll display the XM on the G500, Stormscope on the GTN 750 when around convective activity, and FIS-B weather on the GTN 650. This is the case where you can use both if you want but you don't "need" to because the FIS-B will display on all 3. Not a lot of people are running all of that Garmin gear though. I personally like the way you set things up though. It seems like a very smart idea.
Tom Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 ARX 100 is a receiver only, but GDL88 is a transceiver, if you don't need ES, you can just go with a GTX 327, save yourself ~ $2500 in the Garmin solution I assumed an installation where the owner wanted capability above 18,000. You do make a valid point for those never planning on going over 18,000. Included in the changed post is the note that the GDL 88 is limited to flight below 18,000.
