October 1! Pretty weather up and down the East coast so tomorrow morning: KMRN-KSBY for fuel, KSBY-KIWI. Thursday will be KIWI=-6B6. (Morganton NC to Salisbury MD to Wiscasset ME for a couple of nights. Then to Stow MA for the weekend before home on Monday or Tuesday. (Just added an O2 bottle and with extended tanks and a little wind assist we could Probably non-stop KMRN/KIWI LOP but 5 hours legs are not that much fun.)

KIWI and 6B6 are nice little airports. Any MSers based on either field? I'm always ready to swap tall tales.

I know mike is not running the airport any more( IWI), but if he happens to be bumming around there tell him I said hello, he hasn't been there the last couple times I have been thru.

Brian, the town is the FBO with self serve fuel at a nice price -- almost a dollar cheaper than Brunswick a few miles away. There's a very pleasant and helpful lady named Kim there. We were there earlier in the summer for a week. She's off tomorrow but my rental car will be waiting and she's given me codes to get in the office and the desk to get the keys and contract. Can't beat that. I will bring my own ties down lines.

I hope to swap my Muscadine wine, habaneros sauce, and honey with my brother-in-law for lobster, oysters and steamers. Win-win.

O will say hi to Mike for you if he's around.

I was stationed at NAS Brunswick for 8yrs and lived in Bath, I was also incharge of maintenance on the base flying clubs aircraft, that's how I got to know mike and ann. I also did work for mike when he needed help, learned a lot from him. He also offered me the FBO, but I was already living in PA and didn't want to move back up to Maine. Ido miss hanging out there and all the great people in the area.

Be sure to have some lobster rolls in Wiscasset for me.

Nancy like lobster rolls, I go for the twins, preferably females with roe, and tomalley. And steamers and broth.

With all this talk of Maine here's a plug for the fly-in at Lewiston KLEW on 10/26/13. They're putting together lunch off the grill and I'm going to try to learn how to make poutine. They're also trying to get tours of the Lochheed Constellation but that's not official.

Weather still picture perfect for our short hop from a small airport, KIWI, to and even smaller one, 6B6, Minuteman in Stow MA. What pleasant people, decent priced fuel and the manager is a fellow beekeeper with hives on the airport grounds.

Here 'til Tuesday if there are any MSers in the area...

Alas I flew my Mooney away from its old base in Brunswick in August. It's a lovely part of the world to fly. The short hop to Wiscasset was a regular favorite, either for cheap fuel or for grilled burgers in Mike and Ann's hangar, or lazy afternoons talking airplanes with the lovely group of people who make the airport such a friendly place. Have fun!

Alan Brown, chief mechanic @ Noble Airventure, 6B6, took my O2 bottle home with him to Fitchburg and got it filled. His gas supplier could not do it so he took it to @ KFIT. Brought it back to Minuteman Sat. morning. Nice guy! Nice airport which is supposed to get the runway paved by next year.

And they say Yankees are hard to get to know..LOL.  I've lived in Tennessee for over 15 yrs now after spending the prior 25 yrs living in New England. Even after 15 yrs in Tennesee I'm still considered a yankee by some southerners. That's okay by me..We are easy to warm up to after you get to know us :D.

Bob, sounds like you are in good hands up there. Fly safe and enjoy the "Lobsta".

Yeah Tom, I'm from VT! We've lived in the South since 1967 but I still consider myself a yankee (we need a different word for that, I would not want to be taken for a fan of the Evil Empire!)

I've found that people are about the same once you get past whatever the regional veneer is.

BTW, I was plant manager of a Genesco leather finishing plant in Milan (that's MI-lan, not mi-LAN) for a year or so back in the late '60s, not so far from Dyersburg.
