  1. Regardless in the “green” like that ,it’s either headed for a completion center of straight flight test
  2. I’m here to tell you no balloon is easy to inflate...it’s a lot of work
  3. So the TBM 910 should make you feel better...
  4. Interesting selfie photo of missing pilot taken minutes before departure of missing flight.Looks pretty low overcast at Catalina?Vfr into IMC?
  5. Negative on drift pin hammer...that way leads to a new wheel...simply size a socket to engage lip of cup( bearing race) and find a buddy at airport with arbor press
  6. Yeah I’ve changed out both cups on my M..with Help from an arbor press and a big socket...standard mechanic stuff
  7. I used to operate my fixed pitch 0360 in an experimental Pitts at 3400 rpm to get 225 hp.It was run for about 800 hrs before we overhauled it due to fuel contamination. No issues from extended “ over speed”
  8. This is new to me...I’ve never heard you could completely drop the valve to access the valve guide...the rope trick I’ve seen is used to regrind the valve seat by preventing the valve from dropping into cylinder.
  9. Is 100 bucks too much to admit too??
  10. I know!but I needed the 12 k to buy a 23 k Maule M5 with a 235 hp lycoming...no more Franklin oil leaks and that Maule could get off in 350 ft!
  11. I guess in 1981 I was an idiot.Paid 3500 for a Stinson with engine on the bench in pieces.Did not insure at all...based it at an AG strip in a shade hanger for 50 bucks a month.Flew to Mexico and most of the West...sold it for 12 K after flying it for 400 hrs
  12. Great post Don!Question,do you have a personal plan as to when in the future you will be comfortable giving instruction again?
  13. I’ve had a speed brake freeze up after aircraft sitting in rain ,than takeoff to high teen ,freezing alitude and one brake refusing to deploy while descending. The asymmetrical yaw produced a WTF moment till I realized what was happening
  14. I really hate when I get clearances like this...”cleared to 90 dme ,140 radial ,xyz vor.Controllers don’t realize the programing to create a waypoint like this when they could just as easily route you to a published waypoint.I usually request an initial vector ,and usually follow that with a direct request.
  15. Don’t worry Tiger..it’s just a little cold you have,,...recommend you leave country
  16. So your shop did testing on this and determined governor was bad ,that didn’t solve problem so next it’s the prop!..than when that doesn’t solve it,what next..wait for it ..sorry gotta overhaul the engine!!!..I’ve heard of throwing parts at a problem...but these guys would do better by putting up a big diagram of firewall forward, donning blindfolds, and throwing darts at diagram.
  17. How’s the available avgas at airports along the African coast?
  18. I saw a set that were anadized (aluminum parts)steel tab powder coated on a friends Beech duke
  19. That Sunday flying back from a balloon meet over the Sierras ,I heard two737 s go arround do to wind shear into Reno.We were lucky,we found smooth air at 15 k with out to much discomfort ,but were primed to 180 if things got impossible. There was multiple mountain wave (but no roter)as we approached the Sierra creast over Minden with smooth 2000 ft /min uncommanded rate of climb.
  20. Same with my 01 Bravo....
  21. Recognize 5papasierra from the lake bed at deadcow
  22. This...it’s just a gear door...look up your paint code (black)maybe faster to do it your self
  23. I wonder if by venting theses relays you introduce a pathway for contamination...tks fluid, oils exaust by products that are corrosive to the contacts.TE also mentions that contact life expectancy is a product of current running thru those contacts.TE indicates venting helps remove ionized byproducts caused by contact arcing...I wonder if these relays held a vacumn what would be their life expectancies
  24. Its also were I’m doing hot air balloon training ....winds in the valley at early morning hours are quite predictable
  25. My money is on a faulty or poorly designed switching power supply somewhere on the D3 s board.
