  1. regardless of fuel condition...pilot appears to have stall/spun into trees (according to witness and chordwise crushing)rather than accept gradual descent into trees with a chance that most energy would be depleted by airframe components striking trees one at a time. Not a great choice i realize ,but if he couldnt find an open field to put down on ,anything is better than a stall spin

  9. oh just a follow up....guy from my local FSDO called late friday afternoon.....i said I hadnt heard back from you after a week and a half of emails/phone messages so I called Oklahoma City and got the extension I needed. He than apologized for taking so long to return message and asked if I had by any chance complained to Oklahoma city?
  10. that is approaching moderate to severe in my book....
  11. thanks for this suggestion...waited on hold for 10 min.,explained the problem, agent basically granted a 60 day extension of old cert till they work out issues with new cert. They emailed an authorization in 2 min...problem solved ..thanks all...k
  12. Cliffy..i tend to agree with you...but will the FAA inspector/ntsb/insurance co agree ,if god for bid im having a bad day...the real problem ,is so far none of the FSDO offices i have left emails and phone messages with ,have bothered to respond....they are ones impowered to grant an extension....
  13. that pretty much sums it up Skip....
  14. the only quicky rating i could possibly do in less than 2 weeks is powered parachute or maybe pvt gyro ad on.This all started from my ballooning cert!!Which was just doing as a lark..
  15. i keep checking daily on FAA web site and it still shows old license
  16. no hard copy of PPL...examiner took that...ive got a call out to insurence co to see if Im covered with an expire temp cert...honestly I never dreamed it would take 4 months to issus new one
  17. it does just that....but the temp lists the date of "superceded"pvt cert..and yes the DPE punchs a whole and asked if he could keep old plastic cert for his collection.
  18. Brian ..that is exactly the situation ,and why I am cncerned if there were an incident or accident....my UAS cert is good though...
  19. well ,as i read my policy, with an expired pilot cert...insurance null in case of accident ,not even counting on NTSB response

  23. I have a temp commercial certificate issued 08/31 and expiring 12/31....thats a couple of weeks away...Ive tried leaving two messages with my local flight standards for an extension...so far a week later...crickets...talked to the issuing DPE...he said try riverside flight standards because they kicked the new cert back 3 weeks after initial issue for some technical reason. So ,i emailed Riverside..and again no response. So while i am flying 12/30 thru jan 4th...i will have an expired temp cert. What to do????Advice please
  24. The obvious unintended consequence is the airman dependent on his class 1 or 2 cert who thinks he has covid ,will tough it out,NOT recieve professional treatment that would be reportable to FAA aeromedical...and hone care only and hope for the best...
  25. i go with the flying taco truck!
