  1. I agree the 115 composite bottle is probably over kill...it will last about 40 hrs of use...we don’t need that much probably...
  2. Correct...mast bumping caused by pushing cyclic to negative G has taken out Robison r22 as well as Bells.I took a friend up in my Bell 47 and he wanted to try flying it.We are in cruise flight and I hand over to him saying your aircraft. He takes the stick flys for a while Than Releases the stick to test stability!Upon doing this the bell immediately pitches over (leaving slight witness marks from mast bumping)I grab the stick back and tell him never take your hand off the cyclic of a Helicopter.
  3. Two comments...Hangar friends decided to restore a Great Lakes Biplane.Took them two or three years with them and their friends doing all the fabric work and paint ,panel etc.Than they sold it and new buyer later found paint peeling requiring a recover...result nasty lawsuit that went nowhere.Second involved a high asset individual who donated a experimental GeeBee racer to Museum to avoid liability cause owner had already crashed it once.He realized more from the charitable deduction at his tax bracket than if he had gotten cash buyer
  4. Ha Ha..I landed low on fuel at Loreto Mex and while taxing unported left engine during a turn and couldn’t restart with same results as you including all The laughter
  5. Using special Vfr in a Heli has different rules than fixed wing...basically flight at a speed to see and avoid instead of 1 mile and clear of clouds.Obviously the S76 was traveling at near cruise speed and not at a speed to see and avoid.Too bad this flight didn’t take advantage of the Anaheim departure ,Ventura transition which than puts you over lower terrain to Camarillo right next door.I suppose Heli drivers hate all the departure delays. Also why the flight didn’t go direct over water under LAX TCA?
  6. That’s when I learned about unfeathering accumulators!
  7. My exact experience with my multi in 1989 at same location...
  8. I wonder if one of these displaying attitude, alitude and airspeed could backup my existing G500 primary display?
  9. I’ve flown in the Seabee ,and say the 350 hp is a huge improvement over the original 210 hp Franklin
  10. This Seabee was converted to corvette engine and has been flying since at least 2007...
  11. I’ve done both...just a LOA from tower or airport manager sent to DJI to unlock geo fencing
  12. Power transistor at T5 along with cap blown at C5....
  13. I was thinking of the engines on the Elvis mobile
  14. Owner gonna get a big “you caused so much air pollution “fine from Santa Monica city council.
  15. Yesterday I appreciated my Bravo transition CFI covering just this issue. While cleared to land at KSAC ,tower cleared a 172 for immediate takeoff advising a Mooney on 1 mile final. The guy slowly meanders out on the runway and than stops.Mean while I am configured full flaps and near full nose up trim.Tower starts yelling at the guy to get a move on and about 200 ft from approach end orders me to go arround .I apply full power with the inevitable pitch up and go roaring over the head of the sleeping pilot in the Cessna.Pitch forces required ,I’m guessing 30/40 lbs on the yoke to counter out of trim.I remember during transition, the CFI ,had me attempt a takeoff in just such a condition (full flaps and gobs of up trim)he was ready to apply yoke force even after warning what would happen. In a big engine longbody with no body in back seat or baggage...it’s a workout.RIP to this accident pilot.I wonder who did his transition in the Eagle?
  16. Land it at most stage 2 airports and recieve noise complaint fines
  17. I can’t imagine the gas bill to fuel this monster!Max out your credit limit with every fuel up!I saw an ad where Elvis old abandoned jet star was for sale recently...red velor upholstery, flat tires ,missing engines...300 k for the honor of owning a part of history
  18. Oh I get it...pretty useful if I land my Mooney on a telephone pole
  19. Took the online course exam...about 30 min...than called local fsdo with my log book showing latest BFR...it was casual Friday for the feds, and after buzzing in and getting my visitors pass, met the local fed inspector who badly needed a shave! So we st down at a table ,he looks at my last bFR..and proceeds to nitpick the write up from the CFI.The fed wanted ,besides the boiler plate CFI sing-off ,the actual time flown etc.Fortunately I could show the guy the auto track and log from Garmin pilot for the flight. That placated the guy enough to issue the temp certification, but the whole thing left a bad taste
  20. That is very admirable but in this case the girls parents are liable for a probable 2 mil totaled kingair plus damage to the fbo building after the girls cell phone taught her how to start the Pratt. The parents are probably homesteading their house and transferring assets as we speak.
  21. I wasn’t either, but knew the guy who eventually partnered in the floatplane we had.It turned out well, but the Amphib Husky wasn’t our primary aircraft...we each had other faster traveling machines.Even with such a good experience ,I’m not sure I would partner in the Bravo.I like being the only one flying it.
  22. Remember walking home from 2nd grade and getting lost in a blizzard!
