  1. Consider a 650 with an Aera 660 interfaces to it. It is fantastic. A poor man’s 750, plus you get synthetic vision with battery backup You can also mount the Aera vertically next to your efis and it makes a great mfd i fly a lot of hard IFR with gns and gtns of both sizes. If you have an iPad for your plates, then all you need is a 650. You can put plates on the Aera, but it’s another subscription cost
  2. i wonder if your motor mounts are sagging and squishing to the point of causing excess down or left thrust that is causing problems in the turn..... does it get worse with excess g load?....
  3. I have an inop waakmann wind up on the shelf if needed . It’s the fancy one with ruby bearings inside. It would require sending to Waltham. The face and bezel are nice and I think it says mooney, I’d have to go check in interested.
  4. From my experience, 20 degree timing causes all the problems you have. The performance is noticeably less and plugs foul easily. Go to 25 degrees and you will be happy. 26-27 is even better according to One MSC. Do not use surefly advancing. It’s a gimmick for people who want to fly low power at low DA. If you fly over 5 or 6000 regularly, then the advancing will cause big problems in your climb above those altitudes. I’ve been happy with putting all surefly leads on bottom plugs and widen gaps to .032-.034 with fixed 25 degree timing.
  5. Was there any speed or climb difference after the wheel well liners were installed?
  6. Check that your surefly and mag are timed properly together. Also, sureflys run best with gapping the plugs about twice as wide as regular mags. ~.032”. Some guys go way wider than that even.
  7. Ring flush costs nothing and risks nothing. Pulling a jug risks, among other things, crap getting dropped into the case, later to be found in the screen and filter. It happens more frequently that most would assume.
  8. I think that’s the dumbest video I’ve ever seen.
  9. wow that was fast
  10. Thanks man,,.. I just can’t go along with putting an ugly exhaust on a fresh engine. Hopefully it will actually result in a nice rainbow bluing.
  11. I agree, I just thought I saw someone doing that to remedy hiccups that were attributed to undissolved water drops that get dislodged from tanks during turbulence.
  12. Earlier in this thread, I mentioned that I took my exhaust to a shop to get pressure checked and cleaned up. Well, he pressure checked it and then went on to other projects, so not much was accomplished…. So, I used my glass blasting cabinet and scotchbrite balls on my drill press to get them looking better. I’m pretty much done with all the side projects now, just waiting on the engine at this point. I posted before and after.. Im spending a little more time on the tail pipe, since that’s the bling that is seen from the exterior. I did this also to the heater shroud and muffler. I am told that they will rainbow blue after I run them.
  13. Seems like I read someone on MS using HEET??
  14. I saw one on BT recently. Check over there $1100 is what he’s asking https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=194746&view=unread#unread
  15. Lots of waiting on the engine…. Happy to report I finished the pilot yoke. Some of you guys may remember the copilot yoke I wrapped last year. I sandblast, clean, zinc, and prime before leather goes on. The mooney motif is Cnc laser etching. That’s a 3D printed iPhone holder that bolts in place of the clock.
  16. Save $100k and find a 231 with the turbo plus intercooler instead of a 252.
  17. They don’t. Some people are simply over it.
  18. I did something similar. I wrapped the ugly plastic in quilted leather.
  19. You could get a new paint job in 3 or 4 years of savings of they don’t raise rent. I’m now paying almost twice as much now for the same shade hangar 4 years ago at $3500/yr. and they are about to tear it down to build some $700/m hangars in its place. I’ll have no where else to go on the field except for tiedown. I’m faced with that or move to and airport an hour drive away. If I were you, I’d go for the shade hangar and a cover. The biggest difference is that your plane will get dusty/dirty, especially if there is a lot of turbines at your field.
  20. Mine has been at 80k, but I’m about to increase to 120k. The extra 40k is about 400 more premium.
  21. Make sure it isn’t just a little dob of grease that came off the zerk after annual. The PU zerk covers sometimes hold a little grease. Sometimes a little blob will come off and hit the inside of the spinner and eventually come off on the prop.
  22. I use the maxboost 4.8A charger. It does not cause RF noise in my radios.
  23. I have an extra link, bolts, and bushing on the shelf if needed. It’s the short link version. I can’t remember the part numbers.
  24. That explains, my premium with QBE was lower. $80k/$1516. Right now I have ground only until the new engine goes in. I’m thinking of upping the Hull value up around $120k when the engine goes in
