  1. PJ2 here as well and I like it. Dirt simple to use, as a backup radio should be, and you can plug the headset directly to the radio without need for any adapter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  2. My 67C came with a switch in the panel to disable the PC system. The previous owner installed it and I’m grateful he did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  3. My brother in law has a Cherokee 6 with a 750 and a C2000. No issues at all. It flies fully coupled LPV approaches with no problem. NAV mode, Heading mode and ALT mode all work well as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  4. Thanks for the PIREP. I’m in Jacksonville FL so just a short flight for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  5. Seen these on a Mooney and they look great Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. Thank you! Good to know. I had used Phil on occasion but was not a regular so I guess I’m out. This next annual I need to replace both the uplock and downlock blocks (manual gear) and the aileron control rod (last rod that attaches to the aileron itself). The manual gear blocks look easy enough but the aileron rod looks challenging due to access. I was going to take the plane to Phil for annual so he could take care of this but sounds like that is not an option. X35 is close tome to I’ll give him a try. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. No, it’s just painted brown there to give the illusion of a third window Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  8. My KI209A has a 50 pin connector Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. That’s fairly close to me. I’m assuming he knows Mooneys well? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Finished quite a bit of painting on my bird last weekend (everything you see white) but avoided the ailerons because I did not want to remove them for balancing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Latest version of ForeFlight allows a greater degree of customization for the profiles provided. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. As a point of reference my 67C always runs hot on climb out here in Florida with #4 being the hottest typically 420-430 on initial climb and then settling just below 400 on cruise climb. During level cruise all CHT are in the 340-365 range. I have 1800 hours on the engine and she still has good compression with everything above 70. I do get concerned about the high temps during climb but to put it in perspective it’s been like that for 1800 hours and I see no reason I will not make TBO. So, it appears the hight temp on climb out maybe not doing as much harm as I fear. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Or you could just get a $50 bead breaker from harbor freight and make the job super easy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  14. I used to have a V-twin bike with CHT gage and it ran a bit hot here in Florida. I switched to synthetic oil and temps dropped 25 degrees. Although the higher price for this fuel concerns me, much of this concern will dissipate if I can switch to a synthetic oil. Specially for older Mooneys with a doghouse, 20-25 degree reduction in CHT would be immensely welcomed. This, in addition to a cleaner engine, longer oil change intervals, will be enough to win me over. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. Spoke with the BK engineer here at AirVenture. Certification by FAA in September and he gave me a $200 voucher good when I purchase the kit. I guess we will see…….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Relaxing in the Florida Keys (FD51, Summerland Key) for a couple of weeks before my track to OSH. Not every day you get to park next to a palm tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. In my C engine cooling is an issue so I do use takeoff flaps but quickly raise them after takeoff passing 80 so I can accelerate to cruise climb for better engine cooling. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Good point. I have the cluster with individual gages. Forgot the older models is all in one cluster. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Or you could spend a few hundred bucks and overhaul the gages and they will work great for probably another 50 years. In over 30 years of flying I too have seen many airplanes with bad gages that go unrepaired. I consider a few hundred bucks for good fuel gages a very small price to pay for piece of mind.
  20. A 4-person tent is the right size for 2 people or even one. The tent stakes that come with your tent and hold your tent to the ground can be a bit too small for some brands of tent manufacturers. Do yourself a favor and buy the oversized stakes in Amazon. They held my tent down in a storm at OSH in the middle of the night while many tents around me did not survive. Bring a blanket. It’s July but it can get cool/cold at 3am (at least check the forecast lows and decide if you need one). Twice I’ve decided I did not need one and froze my ass and bought one there. Bring a cooler but buy the drinks at OSH. There is daily ice delivery to your tent available. A couple of 24 watt folding solar panels with USB ports charged a 30,000 mAh portable battery during the day which I then used at night to charge my phone and other electronics. A decent Inflatable bed works great for me, don’t forget to bring something to inflate it with. Small LED lantern for night time. Flip flops and towel and toiletries so you can shower.
  21. No, I mean long term. No issues with waiting for a convenient time to make repairs. I was referring to not repairing them at all on a permanent basis Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Again, fail to see the point of having gages in your plane that don’t work. I have a JPI with fuel totalizar accurate to within one gallon but having fuel gages that don’t work or are not reasonably accurate would bother me. I have a second attitude indicator and a second GPS and backups for a lot of stuff. Would it be ok if I let half of everything fail? If I have a gage in my airplane it is going to work, period. If not then remove it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Agree. I had my senders overhauled by Air Parts about 5 years ago and this annual I had both fuel gauges overhauled. They are accurate and work great. I also have a JPI with fuel totalizer but I still wanted gages that work for a complete picture. The 50 year old gages can be made to work like new for a very reasonable price Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Yes, I’ve flown with it on a Cherokee and it simple, intuitive, and works very well. For my C it is all I need. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Amen! Thank you all for your service!!
