It does not look like it from the pics but the windows are so dirty it was hard to read the Hobbs (doors are locked). I’ll try again this weekend. As far as corrosion is concerned it did have some surface corrosion on the right side flap upper skin and right side aileron upper skin, but it looked like it would clean up (no pitting or intergranular that I can see). Everywhere else I looked it appeared clean. The wheel wells and spar sections I could get to looked great with the paint in excellent shape. No fuel stains. I think the biggest gamble is that engine and prop. The missing logs are also a big problem. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This Bravo has been sitting in the bulk hangar at my airport since before I moved there. For all accounts it’s been in the hangar for 15 years and was last flown in 2006 after all the cylinders were replaced. Supposedly the owners flew it for 10 hours or so after cylinder replacement then parked it and has not flown again. It’s a 1991 M20M. The oil looks clean, prop turns, fuel tanks are bone dry but the sealant looked good., interior is in very nice shape but the radios are 1990 vintage (a full King stack and very old Garmin GPS). The owner lost all the logbooks. The last person to maintain it says he returned the logbooks but the owner does not have them. Paint is in very good shape but years of dirt/dust looks like it will clean up nice. Needless to say, HUGE risk and should probably run, BUT, there is a price point at which this could make a easonable project airplane. What that price point is, is the real question

Wanting to upgrade PC to autopilot
Hector replied to MattyD's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I guess i must be lucky i have not needed any adjustments to the pots since I bought the plane 8 years ago. I had to retape my aileron boots and have the servo control valve overhauled. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I would suspect that it will not be long before someone writes an ox-pulse app for the new Apple Watch that is aviation specific with most if not all of the feature we need. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Making sure I understand. I have Accutrak in mine, but also have a brand new Accuflite that I never installed. You are saying that with a couple of G5’s I could add the Accuflite and the G5 HSI would drive the Accuflite in both heading mode and GPSS steering? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kev, i can certainly bring you up to speed with regards to some of the local options as well as other shops that are nearby. Too lengthy to discuss here but msg me and I’ll send you my phone or come by my hanger Saturday morning ( hangar 31) and I’ll give you the low down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Appareo stratus Horizon App I believe provides transcription of radio transmissions. Don’t know how well it works but maybe something very useful to look into. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
My 67 C backseat is not easily removed. The back rest bolts to the frame on the sides and you have to get in there with a socket and open end wrench to remove one bolt each side so you can pull out the backrest. The bottom cushion clips to a rod at the back and just need to undo the clips to get it out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I’m based out of Herlong with a 67C. I have a coworker that owns a 67F also based at Herlong. There are two more Mooney’s there as well. A J model and an acclaim. Friendly folks and we all help each other out during annuals and such. We all have hangars there so come by and see us. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Get around it. Put the airplane in an LLC then find your mechanic and make him a 1/10000 owner of the aircraft. Now the mechanic is a legal owner of the aircraft. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A turbocharged 6 cylinder version in the 180-220 HP range would sure make an interesting option for a lot of light GA aircraft. That’s only another 60 HP more that they are making now. It would make an interesting option for all those C172s and PA28s and even some Mooney’s if someone developed the STCs to approve hem. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Love my wing leveler with the Accutrack.. I have the switch in the panel to turn it on and off so I don’t have to hold down the button on the yoke. The Accutrack does amazingly well following the magenta line. On a long trip it is great. Sometimes I just use the wing leveler for short trip. I always turn it all off the last 5 miles to the runway unless I’m shooting an RNAV approach and I’m letting the Accutrack handle the course while I take care of the descent. I too am waiting for the mystical Trutrack but I’m not desperate for it and I’m quite happy with what I have. I have a brand new accuflite I never installed because I thought the Trutrack would be here soon. That was 2 years ago. I may go ahead and install it. At the pace we are going it may be another 2 years for the Trutrack. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Family - not interested in flying
Hector replied to Fred as in Flintstone's topic in General Mooney Talk
One of the first dates with my wife (both at University of Florida at the time) i rented a 172 and took her to a nearby airport (X60) and rolled the 172 past the end of the runway into the grass near a tree and spread out a picnic blanket and had a great day. After we got married she showed very little interest in flying at all (GA or airlines) but knew this was my passion and fully supported it. Thirty years laters with kids in college she learned to appreciate the utility of our little Mooney and any mention of going to see the kids and she was ready to go. Even so, I’ve always knows she was a bit apprehensive about flying so always took care to make the flight as pleasant as possible. I would cruise high to find smooth air, deviated around clouds/buildups when possible to avoid bumps, and never in IMC. Thankfully the more we flew the more comfortable she got until it was no longer an issue. See if you can find a reason to get her to go flying with you. Maybe visit nearby towns, festivals, etc., whatever she is interested in see if you can do that and somehow get flying involved. Make sure the conditions are right for the flight with good VFR weather, etc. it may take time, maybe even 30 years, but it can happen and if it doesn’t hopefully she will understand this activity makes you happy and she will support it. Interestingly enough, a few years after my son was born I stopped flying for a while and took up motorcycling. My wife did not like that at all and told me repeatedly I needed to stop that and go back to flying. So maybe the answer is to start doing something really dangerous and she may rethink her position on flying [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Check all the hoses and replace them but it does sound like the servo control valve may need overhaul. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

So when you say you are having problems with the AP can you describe the issue? Is your wing leveler working and you are just having trouble with the Accutrack? If only the Accutrack is having issues what is it doing? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
If you are going to look around you should stop by Spruce Creek near Daytona (7FL6). Huge fly-in community and one of the largest residential air parks in the United States. Really cool place with wide range of home prices. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Coincidentally, after 30 years of flying last week I forgot to lock the gas cap. I was distracted by the two airplanes behind me waiting to refuel in the self-serve and simply did not check. Shortly after takeoff I look out the left wing and see the gas cap precariously moving and thought it would surely depart. Came back around and landed and thankfully the cap was still there. BTW, I carry a spare gas cap and though for sure this would be the day I need it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
