Interesting. Up here in Jacksonville FL at my airport (KHEG), the city keeps track of which airplane is in each hanger per the lease. Generally it does not take more than a month or two before they find out if you let someone else park their plane in your hangar and demand you remove it. Subleasing definitely not allowed and is policed actively. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Nice job. I tried to do this myself and after one hour and bloodied knuckles I decided I would let the pros handle it. I had Maxwell replace the control rods on both sides this past December. My old C was showing quite a bit of slop. I had the roll-pin rod ends so I ordered the complete threaded rods from he factory a couple of years ago. Access to disconnect the rod end inside the wing is a challenge and I didn’t have the patience. Sold my C shortly thereafter and purchased an F of the same age (and flight time) but no wear in the aileron rod ends. Have not looked through the logbooks yet to see if they were replaced at some point Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I sure will Glenn. I had an emotional attachment to my C and I only owned it for 12 years. Can’t imagine 35 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you Glenn and yes it is your F that I purchased from Evan. It’s such a nice bird I told Evan when he purchased it from you that if he ever wanted to sell it to call me first. He did and I could not pass up the opportunity. She is going to get a little upgrade in February replacing the 430Ws with GTN650 and a she will have Two GI275s for attitude indicator and HSI. Her panel still going to look the same because I like it the way it is, just a bit more modern boxes. Greatly appreciate the great care you and Evan showed for this bird and I will take good care of her as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

N2976L has found a new home. The new owner met me at Maxwell to pick it up and we flew it back to Atlanta where it will now reside. Met his family and they are all supper exited about the plane, just great folks. His son is a pilot too and they are all looking forward to new adventures. Was feeling sad about letting N2976L go but feel much better now because I know it has found a good home. What better way for a first flight with the new owner that going back to Atlanta with a 40+ knot tailwind!! The old C was doing 193 Kts ground speed. I did let him know to expect 142-145 Kts true airspeed for typical flights, but we had smooth air at 7500 feet and the Accutrak AP kept us on rails all the way. Arrived at West Georgia Regional at 7:30 PM after a great flight. Stayed Overnight and the next day flew again with the new owner. He is a pretty good pilot and was handling the Mooney without difficulty including landings. He does have an instructor and will continue with him until he meets insurance requirements. Lots of discussion over lunch and dinner about Mooney flying/maintenance and I mentioned Mooneyspace several time and hope he joins this great community. A word about the Maxwell annual. It did not disappoint! They found some discrepancies that were probably missed during the last annual. Nothing huge, but was very impressed with the attention to detail and how thorough the inspection was. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. I wish he was closer to Florida, but I think I will let him do the first annual in my new M20F just to get a good baseline. I may not take it to him every year, but I think I will work him into a rotation to make sure my new bird remains in good shape.

Selling for $55k. Annual at Maxwell is complete. I think I priced it too low as the demand has been high but that’s what I told the first person interested and I’ll keep my word. Lowest compression in the mid 70s. Flying to Maxwell next Wednesday (1/10) to pick it up. Potential new owner will probably meet me there and I’ll fly the plane with him to its new home near Atlanta. That C was so good to me I’ll be sad to see her go. My new F is growing on me though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He sure did Mike. When Glen decided to sell it a few years ago my buddy saw it here in Mooneyspace and jumped on it immediately. I went with my buddy to pick it up because he did not have much Mooney time at all. I liked it so much that I told him if he ever decided to sell it to call me first. He has another flying job in the military and recently decided to sell it and gave me a call first, as we had discussed back then. Like him, I jumped on it right away. I’m upgrading the avionics a bit and the interior, installing CIES fuel senders and probably swapping out the generator for an alternator. I was giving the group here a chance to recommend other changes in case they come up with something I have not considered, which they often do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, forgot to mention an important fact that I would like input on. The airplane has a backup vacuum powered AI. It is the only instrument in the plane that uses vacuum. The backup AI and the retractable boarding step is all the vacuum system operates. I’m debating whether to remove the vacuum system since it will soon have two GI275s and I could convert the step to electric. Any real value in keeping the vacuum system for the vacuum AI? The previous owner showed me and I have watched the Maxwell video as well. Have not tried a hot start yet. Hopefully it will go well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Certainly have as it would be less costly and offer similarly functionally as the 650. Have not discounted that option. Since the other stuff is Garmin I was concerned with mixing other brands. For example, I know the 650xi will cross feed the 430w and the new panel mounted 660 and would obviously play nice with the GI275s. Have not researched if there would be any issues if I throw an Avidyne in the mix. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For most of its life the UL was just over 1000 lbs even after the avionics upgrade, then a few years ago it got put on scales an the UL dropped to 950 range (don’t recall exact number) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thought I post a few pics of my newly purchased M20F. I’m selling my 67C which I posted only here in Mooneysoace and there is a buyer waiting completion of the annual at Maxwell. I purchased this F model from another member here that I have known for a long time. Very happy with my purchase as I wanted more space for the back seat passengers. Not that I fly often with full seats but the few times a year when I do I always wished for a little bigger cabin. The F comes with STEC 55x, two 430Ws, a Gi275 for AI, JPI 900, as FS210. Already scheduled an avionics upgrade later this month to replace one of the 430w with a GTN650xi, replace the analog HSI with an GI 275, and the panel mounted 496 with a 660. If you see something in the panel you would change please let me know. Always looking for good ideas. I’ll be sad to see my C go because it has been bulletproof for the 12 years I’ve owned it. I sure hope the F is as reliable an airplane as my C has been. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve purchased and sold only a few items here and never had an issue. I do look to make sure the person I’m dealing with has been a part of the community for a while. If so, I trust them and ship the item, even let them try it before they pay. Maybe not too smart but have yet to be burned. If there is someone in the community that we know is active and refuses to pay then no mercy. We should know who it is so the rest of us don’t get burned doing business with him. Can you take a handheld transceiver on a commercial flight?
Hector replied to Yariv's topic in General Mooney Talk
Same here. I have carried my flight bag with the hand held radio in the side pocket on a commercial flight and TSA had no issue with it at all. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -
Don’t want to highjack the thread but if you don’t want a partner but want to let a friend occasionally fly your plane (M20F) what would be a fair hourly rate. This person would not contribute to any of the fixed cost which include hangar nor any maintenance. It would be very much like an occasional rental. I can look at rental rates for similar aircraft but those include some profit and I’m not looking to make a profit. Although I have owned a C for 12 years I have never bothered to calculate my operating expenses. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Thanks, no I did not see that but I got 3 folks in wait at the moment and I have not advertised anywhere but Mooneyspace. Before i advertised in Mooneyspace I did respond to a post in another forum where someone was looking for a plane and I’ve been in contact with that person since then. He is near me so I’ll be flying to his airport right after the annual so he can look at it and looks like he is ready to buy. Hoping to get it back from Don Maxwell before Christmas. I posted a couple of years ago seeking advice on an overhaul for a bravo. There is a Bravo at my airport that had a top overhaul, flew for 5 hours, and has now been in a hangar for probably 20 years. Folks have approached the owner but he wants a lot of more than anyone is willing to offer considering the engine has not turned over in 20 years. I looked at it once because frankly the paint still looks good but the fuel tanks were bone dry and could see the sealant cracked. Considering the cost of the overhaul and tank reseal and all the other things that go bad from inactivity for so long I decided what I could offer is so far from what the owner is looking for that it was not worth even asking. It is still in the hangar today. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

I was getting ready to do a major avionics upgrade in my M20C when a friend (also a member here in Mooneyspace) offered to sell me his M20F. I decided to get the M20F as it already has pretty good avionics and will better match my mission into the future. I keep my bird in a hangar (hangar 31) at KHEG for the last 12 years and I knew the previous owner who kept it also in a hangar. Annual is not due until 3/2024 but I want to sell it with a fresh annual so I'm flying it to Don Maxwell on 11/30/2023 for annual and IFR cert. Below are the particulars Airframe 6050 hours TSN Cowl enclosure Gap seals Relocated brake cylinders Pilot/co-pilot shoulder harness Tanis engine heater Corrosion-X treatment every 3 years Separate Avionics Master Bus and switch Quick drain oil valve Plane power alternator and light weight starter (2015) Landing gear doughnuts replaced (2016) Nose gear steering horn overhauled by Lasar (2018) Lasar nose strut with oversteering stops Paint looks really good Leather interior (2021) Challenger Air Filter Useful Load 994.2 Propeller 1157 TSN (HC-C2YK-1BF/F766A-2), no recurring NDI Avionics IFR Cert PC works great with separate on/off switch in instrument panel Fully functional Accutrak AP slaved to GPS Backup RC Allen Electric AI GX-60 GPS/COM (will include a working 430W with tray, connectors and antennae that I will be removing from the M20F for upgrade to GTN650) Panel Dock with Garmin 660 hard wired PS Engineering 6000M-S Audio panel (4 place intercom, marker beacons, music input) KI209A CDI Vertical stabilized compass card TKM MX-170B NAV/COM with glideslope receiver JPI730 engine monitor with fuel flow and connected to GPS for accurate fuel required and fuel remaining at destination Stratus ESG transponder for ADS-b out connected to a Stratus receiver behind the panel for ADSB-in Stratus Power USB panel charger Avionics and lighting rewired with new Approach Fast Stack harness in 2011 Engine 1861 Hours SFRM Burns 1 Qt/10 hours Oil/filter changed every 30 hours Camguard with every oil change Oil analysis all normal No oil leaks I fly this airplane 100-120 hour yearly. It will do 142 Kts TAS at 22/2400 at 7500 feet. M20C prices are all over the place so not sure how to price this. Engine time is certainly a major consideration although it runs great and nothing will be spared in the annual with Don Maxwell. I will include spare Brittain AP servos I purchased for spares in case one developed a leak. Is somewhere in the 50's a fair price? Please see attached pics.

I used Tune airport just a few weeks ago. No complaints. Folks were nice and had my plane fueled when I arrived. Gas is expensive but only needed 20 gallons and I always try to give them some business for the service they provide. I think they did charge me overnight fee of something like 10 per night but it was more than reasonable. Busy airport at times but no problem getting in.
