docket Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Quote: JBrown Not when you can sell it for more than $160,000... Trust me, a friend of mine recently sold a nice Eagle with a fairly new engine for $250,000. Anyway, I'm not exactly planning on selling it and it would have taken me an absolute minimum of $200,000 to recreate it given the aircraft available now (even when you include talking the price down significantly). So yes, I think I got a deal. If you don't then you're of course entitled to your opinion, just don't go around flaming other people and their decisions. God, I should never joined a forum of such inconsiderate people... Quote
Earl Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 When I look at this airplane and the planned work for a total of $180K I can only say wow! I spent that much for an 86 Mooney 252 a number of years ago which was the going price at the time for a low-engine, low-time version of that model. It makes me weep every time I see a comparable 252 today going for much less. Fact is an airplane is worth what someone is willing to pay for it at the time and if you some day find yourself in the same boat as me so be it. You'll have a great airplane that does what you want. Enjoy it!! Quote
Buster1 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 All this and I don't even HAVE a Mooney yet. Perspective! Quote

carusoam Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 JB, Old School!!! The KLN90B is also showing the data in this photo, unfortunately with the flash, the reflection eats up most of the data, but the Old School DME readings are in plain sight. The accuracy of the DME from 10 miles out matches the GPS data very closely. This data was grabbed heading down to SnF last Wednesday. I just updated the calculation for mpg. I miscalculated the conversion to statute miles originally. Don't let the efficiency numbers out to the general public... They will take away our right to operate LOP! -a- Quote

JoeSpeed Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Just posted screen shots for my O3 TAS averaged in 4 directions was 195 Kts with Fuel Flow of 19 GPH Quote
carusoam Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 How did you get from the hangar to 12,000' using only 18# of fuel? Quote
roundout Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Relax. My comment, made tongue-in-cheek, was directed at the fact that you say your ship's weight was 3350# but the MGTOW of the Ovation is 3368#. I must admit that I do not own my own Ovation, but I do know that the airplane can't get from sea level to 12k and accelerated to cruise on 18# of fuel. Sorry to get you wound up. Quote
carusoam Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 You caught me.... [1] I wanted to reflect that we left at full gross, but posted the round number for illustrative purposes. Again, not trying to overstate the situation.... [2] You gave me the opportunity to write and exchange knowledge about Mooneys... (now I've done it again) [3] Seriously though, JB has taken his bat and ball from this thread... -a- Quote
roundout Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 No worries. I didn't mean to sound condescending either. I have a bit of time here and there in long-bodies and know a few "workarounds" but I am certainly always learning and adding to my arsenal. Quote
