Guest Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 Extending our special OSH pricing - $100 off - until end of the weekend. Almost over! We've gotten so many pilots looking for our booth at EAA but we are in NYC covered in cooler dust! This week the orders have been flooding the email box and phone orders. Your orders are all in the system before the sale ends. Send me a PM if you're interested in a unit. support@switchboxcontrol.com Quote

Piloto Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 Maybe a good thing since I'm still looking for pictures of what the IceBox looks like inside a Mooney 201. Do you have any? None on your site; I've searched several times. Since the Box needs to go in through the baggage door, are folks leaving it in the baggage compartment or sitting it on the rear seat....and how's that working out? I had the same question. On many of my trips there are three or four onboard with a lot of luggage. It would be nice if the icebox could be set in the tail cone and distribute air through the overhead nozzles like the air conditioner. I had a 1966 M20C and ventilation was very poor when compared to the M20J I now have. On later models (after 1980) the overhead air nozzles are substantialy much better than the louvers on the older models. The nozzles direct an air stream to your head for quick cooling. Like on cars most effective cooling is when air is directed to your head. We normally start our trips early in the morning to avoid the build ups but also to avoid the sun heat. Upon arrival if it is too hot I just open the door partially to get a breeze, which works very well. José Quote

Guest Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Hey chris, are you using the 10x gel packs? With gel packs (ie ice blocks) you get longer run times but not so cold temps. If you use Ice Cubes you will get a much 'chillier' AC but wont last as long as the blocks I think 67 is pretty warm. In our tests in the office 10x gel packs go like this... 0-30mins 60F then 30-60mins 62F then 65F then when its almost melted 2 hours later 68F everything is 10degrees colder with IceCubes. Thats in our tests in NYC, but each environment is different P Quote

Thats in our tests in NYC, but each environment is different P Hi Phillip. I was using the 10 gel packs I bought from you. The ambient air temp was 78, humidity was 55%. I consider an 11 degree drop pretty good considering that I was trying to cool my entire kitchen. In a confined space like an airplane cabin where the air temp will be higher initially, I should be reconditioning the cabin air at some point. I would expect the benefit will be the reduction in cabin humidity with some lowering of the cabin temp. The biggest benefit of air conditioning is the removal of humidity that will improve comfort. I do like the remotes. Pretty cool (pun intended) that you can turn on the recirculator pump and cooling fan through them. Quote
Guest Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 We're getting a lot of orders from Aircraft Spruce, but if you want one direct PM me and I'll put you on the list P Quote
rbridges Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I still haven't had a chance to use mine. I did test out the pump and fan. I agree that the remotes are pretty handy. The setup is pretty straightforward. btw, are the parts pretty easy to find down the road if something goes bad? 1 Quote
