SpamPilot Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 In my M20F with manual flaps, it takes something like 15 seconds for the flaps to retract fully. It would be nice for them to retract faster once I'm on the ground to help transfer weight to the main landing gear. Can anything be done? Quote
FloridaMan Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Consider yourself lucky. If I pull my release up after touching down, they're still coming up by the time I reach my hangar. In flight they come right up from the loading. For this reason, I always set my takeoff flaps during run-up and verify they're down pre-takeoff. Quote
N601RX Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Yes, there is an adjustment screw on the side of the flap master cylinder. The service manual gives a number as to how fast they will come up. They come up much faster in the air than on the ground. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 The adjustment on the flap pump is very sensetive. Have someone put upward pressure on the flap root while checking the retract speed. Quote
FloridaMan Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 When I bought mine, the pilot I did some transition training with brought it up. The mechanics did not want to touch it for risk of breaking it. These things are old and you might be better off with slow flaps than trying to source a new part. Quote
