If he hadnt shone a laser into a police helicopter - I think it would be next to impossible to catch him ..

Lasers ataircraft are a serious deal. You can blind someone with them. For now, he has 30 months to contemplate his decision, and to ask his parents for more soap on a rope. Dont pick up the soap if your drop it in the prison shower.

There's a similar thread on another website right now. Apparently when you get a laser strike and call it in it's pretty easy to catch the guys. They send a police helicopter and the offender usually outs himself by shining it on the helicopter and gets nabbed buy guys on the ground.
