Annual time is approaching, and with that we are dealing with a few discrepancies.

One of these is the carpet. It pulls and folds over when people get in and out of the plane. Two rounds of Velcro simply cannot hold the carpet, so we are going to install button snaps to hold it down.

Do any of you know the placement or location of the snaps in the floor? We have to drill and mount these snaps, and I want to see what is the best placement for carpet snaps.

Thanks

I believe we have the same 77J model and I never saw any snaps on the floor.

My carpet, installed a few year back with a new interior simply lays flat (it is not glued or cemented) but does not pull or folds

That's how the carpet is in my C, too. It just lays there. I suspect either your carpet is old and the backing is worn out, or it was thin carpeting to start with and had very little backing on it.

I have the same problem, and velcro + non-slip liners have failed to keep it in place.  I've been too lazy to add the snaps, but think it is a great solution.  Only trick is to drill the holes where you have clearance under the floor so you won't drill into something important, or drop shavings into something.  I would try adding the snaps just in front of the rear seat/spar area as the carpet wants to move forward in my plane, and that would stop it.

Velcro comes in many flavors, use a commercial grade and you'll need a crow bar to lift/move your carpet.  To begin with if the foam backing of the carpet (assuming it has one) is in good condition it should not slip and it it is old and ineffective I think the non slip stuff the put under rugs is a better idea that the fasteners.

My brand new carpet was moving on the right side. I consulted the trim shop who helped with the new interior about adding snaps. He convinced me his "industrial" grade velcro would hold. It does. I put 3 6" strips near the back and 3 more in front of the front seat where we step and push off getting in and out. The carpet has a smooth backing which is probably important to adhere the velcro strips.

We used the 30$ industrial grade velcro, sewed to the carpet and glued to the floor. What happens then is after the stuff pulls loose, the carpet backing ruins the velcro.  Its not a long term solution.
