I know it will take a hands-on hangar rat to be interested in this one (someone who wants to do their own work), but thought I would throw it out there. Will consider some trades on it. The plane has been flying regularly for the last 7 years, well over 100 hours per year. Came in on trade.

Someone who is willing to invest over time might find this plane is the way to go. If you redo the engine and begin a steady update process when budget permits, it might allow someone on a fixed budget to get into a long body. It has a 530 which is a plus, the rest of the stack is okay but your will want more current stuff over time.

Wow, that is a lot of airplane for the money. That is the autopilot I would want in that plane, and the 530 would be great. Not bad, not bad at all!

I agree with Marauder...this would make a great candidate for a DIY-er or perhaps for someone that wants to entirely spec-out their dream 231. Great start with the KFC-200 and GNS-530, and priced close enough that you could even pay someone to fix all of the cosmetics and not get upside-down in a hurry. Lots of potential here!

I agreed with Marauder as well, then I saw he called the K a long body. In it's time, the K was a long body...

Looks like a worthy machine with a new engine requirement on the near horizon. Good if you're confident in your skills to order up a good factory reman...

Does anyone have a price for a rebuilt K engine and turbo?

Fly it for a year and decide it's future, after PPI of course. Trust, but verify...

Nice entry into the K market.

Best regards,

Factory LB engine is 40K+ from Van Bortel, in the box. Would expect that the final price, including prop will run $50K.

We are currently doing a Bravo Engine, everhything in front of thefirewall, including prop, hoses, mounts, all accessories, complete for $40K including labor for overhaul and R&R. I would think that this engine could be overhauled complete for 75% of that, including prop, maybe a little more to upgrade to an LB (throttle body change). You have to shop your parts and know a little bit about what you are doing. But a DIY guy could realisticly have this plane with overhauled engine and prop and some cosmetic fixup and be in it under $100K. Thus the reason for posting it here and getting the conversation started.
