Guest Anonymous Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Bryan, If you decide need a hangar, consider KOLM as an alternative to Thun Field. Call Lorie at the Port of Olympia airport office. I got a spot in the "FOX" row, (which are the newer, deeper ones on the south end) in less than two weeks, and it is half the price of Pierce County! Better quality too, with reasonable power paid (enough for an engine dehumidifier), no leaking roofs, and better doors. Don't let her sell you the ones in Alpha thru Delta rows though, much older and some leak. Lower approach minimums, too! RFB Quote
piperpainter Posted January 28, 2010 Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 I wish but she's going to have to stay outside! Years down the road i'll hopefully be able to put her indoors. For now its lots of covers! And OLM is a long ways from my house. Right now im a 10 min drive from base and the airport so Pierce is great, although it would be nice to have the lower mins! Quote
MooneyMitch Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Speaking of painting my airplane soon...............on the front page of MooneySpace is PilotBob's F model that came out of ArtCraft just prior to Bryan's Mooney. The paint shop did a spectacular job. Top Gun said it's the best paint job they've ever seen!! Well, I guess they forgot about my paint job already!! ha!! Anyway, spectacular and Bryan's quality will be the same. Quote
mooneygirl Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Bryan A little spy at Santa Maria tells me that your plane is glorious red, with a black tail. WOW. I think we are going to get to meet you tomorrow. What a happy day! Quote
231Pilot Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Please post the pictures as soon as you get them loaded in your computer...a lot of us are really anxious to see the scheme on aluminum instead of paper. Be sure to get a good cover if you can't hangar...red paint doesn't seem to like sunlight...or at least the ungaraged red cars I have owned did not, lots of oxidation, even with regular applications of paste wax. mooneygirl Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 I hear that Bryan's smile is from ear to ear. Mitch is there, and I am headed down. Will post pictures as we can! Quote
MooneyMitch Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 This is one happy, smiling boy [bryan, that is!]!! We spent at least 4 hours with he and Eric Fechter [hansel] at ArtCraft and at lunch today. Bryan never got the smile off of his face. Another terrific paint job by these people. On schedule and well under the $10K mark for this one. We have plenty of photos from today, but.......................we'll not spoil Bryan's fun of posting the pictures himself. He's on the way back to WA as of this writing. What a fun day we had watching this all go down and seeing the happiness this brought to all involved. Awesome!! I do believe Eric was impressed with ArtCraft and will be having his 201 painted there too. Quote
hansel Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Wow-- a great day indeed! Thanks to Mitch and Jolie for the warm welcome (and a warm day it was too... 60 deg F on the central coast; always a beautiful stop). As for Artcraft, I echo all of Mitch and Jolies' comments. They truly are tops. A full army working on every detail of the plane-- and at a competitive price too. I'm sure Bryan is proud. Quote
rgaines Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 I suggest Mosleys in Olathe Kansas at OJC. Excellent price and excellent work. Robert Gaines Quote
MooneyMitch Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Ok, the Santa Paula Mooney is out of ArtCraft now and the owner is very happy! It is just gorgeous...................almost as gorgeous as mine........ha! Seriously, this is a stunning paint job! Here is the freshly painted Mooney! A win, win for all here. Quote
ErickR Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Bryan, after having your plane back from the painter for awhile now, are you still happy with their paint job? Do they completly strip all the old paint and do the prep work for under $10k? We just bought a m20b that could use some love in the future. thank you Quote
MooneyMitch Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Hello Erick. I know we'll get a reply from Byran on your question. I will also answer your questions based on my experience. My paint job is now 1 year old. It is still absolutely perfectly gorgeous! ArtCraft is full strip, alodine etch, fix any corrosion/airframe issues, primer and 3 colors for under $10K. There have been at least 7 happy Mooneys [including mine] go through this shop over the past year. The most recent is the Santa Paula Mooney out just last Thursday. Please keep in mind ArtCraft's Mooney Madness fly-in coming on May 22nd. They will be treating all of us to some educational seminars, food, music and some giveaways. More info. to come on that soon. Maybe plan a trip down for this!! Quote
MooneyMitch Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Quote: KSMooniac Another gorgeous Mooney! Quote
piperpainter Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 yes I still love my paint job! I have had so many comments on how many people like it. Its different from what you usually see and thats what I wanted its "Me!" Just like Mitch said, Artcraft does the whole works and they make your airplane look amazing. I plan on going back down in June before Oshkosh to get the plane completely detailed as part of the paint job deal! I can't wait to visit Mitch and Jolie some more plus I am having them do some other things....gonna make her look new by a few simple things! Quote
