LFOD Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I have received several emails and PMs about my plane going onto the market. I have had to sell due to a dispute with acertain department within the Washington bureaucracy. If it doesn't sell, there are other options, but it looks like I will be heading overseas again this summer. I will relook plane ownership when I return.... Im not going to post the ad, because I dont want to advertise on the board, but it is easy enough to find. In my clearly non objective opinion who ever buys it will get one hell of a Mooney. Cruiser Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Sorry to hear you are selling Matt. I hope it all works out for you. I notice you have an OAT on your EDM800. Can you tell me where the probe is mounted? I have an EDM700 and want to add the OAT but I can't decide on a good location for the probe that is out of the way and in a clear airstream. thanks, TomK Quote
LFOD Posted November 29, 2009 Author Report Posted November 29, 2009 It is sticking out of the cowling on the co-pilots side. Not the most ideal place as it interferes with my plane cover. Quote
HopePilot Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Nice plane ('84 was a great year). Unfortunately my budget is too low to help you out. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I flew Matt's plane to Washington (absolutely beautiful flight) after it got the annual inspection done at Don Maxwell's Mooney shop in Longview. It's a great, well-equipped plane and whoever gets it is getting a great deal! Quote

Cruiser Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 thanks Magnus, I will check this location. Any pictures? did you have any installation problems? TomK Quote
rob Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I highly recommend, based on other's recommendations, that you not put the OAT probe there. The factory puts them out on the wing - which is where I put mine (on the left side), and it is very accurate. When I was installing mine I was told that in the air inlets on the fuselage would be subject to prop wash and inaccuracies. Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I concur with Rob and think that mounting an OAT probe on the fuselage is a bad idea since it will be subject to engine heat, sunshine, etc. I have a Davtron OAT gauge (multifunction instrument) and placed the probe in a left wing inspection panel, which is a mirror image of the factory location of the right wing. It is not that difficult to run the probe wires to the panel. Quote

LFOD Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 In my last aircraft, it was also on the wing. Having said that, I cant be sure that the thing sticking out of the cowling is in fact the OAT probe. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Matt. I know the feeling of liquidating a Mooney. It is a sad day indeed. Hopefully you will see your way to another airplane [hopefully a Mooney] in the future. If you are able, and have the chance, please let us all know what that "thing" is sticking out of your cowling! We are curious too..... Quote
Mooney_Allegro Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Matt, I'm sorry you have to sell your plane, but I'm sure you'll get a better one in the future, although yours looks REALLY nice. TomK, I had my mechanics install the JPI Temp. probe under the right wing next to the Mooney temp probe and the G600 temp. probe, so now I have 3 probes under there next to each other. There should be pics of them in my picture area. The G600 & JPI probes read the same temp while sitting on the ramp, but when at altitude, the JPI reads 3-4'higher for some reason. I believe the G600 temp. probe to be more accurate. Quote
231Pilot Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Sorry you had to see her, the M20J is a fantastic bird. I suspect you will purchase another after your overseasa posting. I've flown Cessna, Piper, Beach, and Mooney and I cannot imagine owning an aircraft that wasn't built in Kerrville. I love my 201, but would one day like to move up to a 252 or Encore. It would require more money (there is never enough), but upgrading to make the plane "mine" is a great deal of the fun. So, for now, I am trying to decide if I should invest in speedbrakes, new paint and interior for my 201, or start over with a 252. I hope you are starting over again soon. Quote
LFOD Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks Lew. I just received a deposit on my aircraft and I received a little more then what I paid for it six months ago. Im already shopping for new planes, but it will be at least a year until I purchase again. Who knows how much an Encore will cost then? Quote
231Pilot Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Saw theplane listed withAll American. Looks like a lot of airplane for the money. Beautiful aircraft equipped as well as any 201 I've seen. (Wish I had the speedbrakes on mine...and new paint). Someone will be getting a great deal! Quote
