The cabin vent in the center pedestal toward the floor always lets some cold air in. When I pull the cabin vent knob it allows a lot more air in. I was wondering if it leaks like this for everyone or is my system poorly sealed?

Under the passenger side panel is the airbox. That cable goes to a giullotine slide valve. It should bottom out and seal all air out. Sounds like yours isnt closing fully. You can adjust that cable end.

The vent in the center is a calibrated fresh air vent. It is there to prevent CO 2 buildup. It should not be blocked or shut off. The positive air pressure exits from vents in the baggage sidewalls

I dunno, Joe. I have a spare airbox here and it clearly closes fully. Well, it closes untl it hits roll pin in the bottom of the slide. But that still is 1/8" overlap. It might leak because it is built sloppy, though.

That slide cabin heat valve leaks a lot of hot air as well. Going to a 1979 and later swing valve seals it tight, and lowers cockpit temps 20 degrees easily.

PM me with email for photo.

Mechanic fixed it for me today. No more leak! Thanks guys. I've thought this is normal since I bought the plane and never had it sealed. Now I wonder if I have a small leak from the hot air. Gonna have to wait for a colder day to be sure it's not just warm outside air when I open the cabin vent.
