I clearly never said to memorize anything, re read my posts.

Briefing the approach plate and then stowing the iPad is what you recommended . . .  where would that briefing information be stored . . . . .  either your memory or some other part of your anatomy . . lol

I personally just memorize any plate I may possibly need. If you can’t do that you shouldn’t be flying.

@Skates97how am I doing?

I honesty have zero desire to help grown adults who have to self censor what they can see, in my life I have never “ignored” someone in a forum, lack of mental grit IMHO

This is a group forum. No one has appointed themselves to help other grown adults. It's an interchange of helpful information in our Mooney ownership.

You don't own a Mooney, which would be fine by itself, but you have appointed yourself an expert on every subject that comes up . .  or at least that's how it comes across. That's what would earn you  the "Ignores" - not wanting to wade through all of your accomplishments you list in each thread to supposedly give you the right to comment on Mooney things you really know nothing about.

Humble yourself, use your eyes and ears more than your mouth and you'll do fine here.

 In the FMS..

“what’s the FAF altitude” [glances at FMS/FPL page) “oh 2000’”

You’re briefing the box, basically making sure what the iPad says matches what the box is programmed for.

The only thing you MIGHT memorize is which was to turn off the runway, or just jot it down

Just own it and move on to another subject . . .  or online forum. When you dig yourself into a hole, RULE #1 - stop digging!

I realize I may have misquoted another quote thinking it was yours - I own that as an honest mistake.

But clearly you said earlier that you recommended briefing the approach plate and then stow the iPad - that's called memorizing it any way you look at it.

I'll tell you whut, if I ever had a first officer who shut his iPad down on approach, planning instead to pull stuff "from memory" we'd be having a talk about it. That's not how you fly any plane, doesn't matter if it's an MD-11 or a J-3 Cub. Trust your avionics, but verify.

Its concerning that you call yourself a CFI. I hope you're not "teaching" this crap to other aviators.

 Your iPad is your avionics?

I don’t call myself a CFI, I am a CFI, I teach what I clearly wrote here and if you re read what I wrote you will find I never said to memorize anything.  I didn’t even use any big words, re read what I wrote and let me know where you are having trouble and I’ll spell it out for you

No. Like I said, trust your avionics, but verify (either with an iPad or paper charts.)

 Yup

That’s exactly what I said, but that should be done prior to TOD.  If you need to play with your iPad on approach I think you’re probably all the way back in coach as far as being behind the jet

Ok, sure, just like I never posted this. Congrats you’re the 3rd person in 15 years that I’ve ignored. In your case, sorry I waited so long to do it.

Just as a reminder, ignoring someone is very easy to do. Hover your mouse or trackpad over the user’s name and a pop-up will give you that option.

Riiiight. I’ve been a captain at a major airline probably longer than you’ve been alive. Talk to me about being behind a jet.

Attitudes like yours at least make good examples in recurrent training every year.

So tell me where I am wrong

You’re Candian and fly a MD11?  When’s the last time AC operated one of those?

Yeah you won’t see this, but it still needs to be said

I simply gave a good method of IFR ops, guess I may not have explained it simply enough for some

Im no pre Madonna, but I’d have someone’s ass for that

Thinking that prima donna is actually pre Madonna . . . .  finally concrete proof that a person with a sub-80 IQ can earn their pilot’s license.

As a side note since your name is Jackk I would be cautious about using the word “ass” in any sentence.

Sad when you lie about what you said, since the internet unlike your mouth when you talk records everything permanently, and with the arrogance dripping, nothing more you say on here will mean anything to anyone as no one will now trust a word you write, congratulations fool.

And then there was that time for the return flight from Florida when the GNS 530 came up with a black screen when the avionics were turned on.   On a Friday, after Christmas.

Looks like Foreflight provides primary navigation up the coast to the Mid Atlantic running on an iPad and iPhone for backup.
