Jerry 5TJ Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 Yesterday I began instructing a new Mooney owner in his 67 C model. The plane has an externally mounted “thing” on the left cowl about 3’ aft of the propeller. I don’t recognize it. Any idea what it is?
N201MKTurbo Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 That sure is a nice one. I would take it off and paint it. 1
N201MKTurbo Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 Maybe it’s a: 1. Automatic landing gear extender 2. ice detector 3. Angle of attack detector 4. Mini venturi

Utah20Gflyer Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 That’s an air horn that makes the Stuka dive bomber sound when you put it into a dive. It’s purpose is to strike fear in the hearts of Cessna and Piper pilots. 1
dkkim73 Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Turbo encabulator port. Those are pricey to replace especially from Lasar (I am told) but can be overhauled by a few shops if needed. Surprised I'm the first to recognize it.
