LANCECASPER Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 I dropped my airplane off at the avionics shop Monday and took out the passenger's seat for them. Based on great advice on here a long time ago, once I remove the hardware stops (screws, spacers and nuts on this Mooney) I always raise the seat as high as it will go then slide it as far forward to get the front off the tracks and then slide it back to get the back off the track. Works great every time. To re-install I just do the reverse order. Yesterday when I went to pick it up they were just putting things back together as I went tot the office to pay. The tech said no worries he would put my seat back in. I said no I'll take care of that but thanks for the thought. I came out from paying and he had the seat jammed in there. He put the front in first and got it half way back and it wouldn't move. He did a great job on the rest of it so I didn't want to make him feel bad. I told him I'd figure it out when I got home. So far I can't get it to move. The front is on the track and the back isn't. It would slide forward or backward. I've raised it high, I've lowered it. Still nothing. Any great ideas?
PT20J Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 Try adjusting the height about halfway between high and low and sitting on it and shifting your weight to see if you can get it to slide forward and off the rails so you can start over. 4
Ragsf15e Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 Ive done that myself and it was awful. I would try skips suggestion. I eventually cursed enough that mine loosened up and I got it free. It could possibly be very slightly sideways on the rails so check that.

What would we do without you Skip? I walked out to the hangar and in 5 minutes it's fixed. Thanks!!!! 7 1

Yetti Posted October 30, 2025 Report Posted October 30, 2025 On the older ones you could loosen the bolts of the track wheels as they were two piece. The newer seats have a one piece wheel holder so I used a rubber mallet.
Jsno Posted October 31, 2025 Report Posted October 31, 2025 I had the same problem. Sprayed tracks with silicon spray and problem went away.
