My cover for my plane gave up its life valiantly protecting my plane the other night in a windstorm (got ripped up).  I have tried internet searching to buy a replacement but no luck in finding one for my specific model (M20F).  Does anyone have a lead as to where I can buy a replacement…preferably one that can be customized my my tail number?

I have several Bruce’s covers and they are a good quality cover.

+1  I have a Bruce's cover and it works well and well made.  I have snaps on the front two corners and a strap that loops around the back.  There is enough horizontal tension on the snaps that I can't imagine it coming off accidently.  But it also has plastic D rings on the end that I could also strap the corners together up front if I choose to.

Mac's custom covers are very affordable. I use mine only intermittently but it seems solid. Straps with backpacking-style buckles. You could probably tie the loose ends as a backup if needed. Good service and quick turn-time.

It's endured scorching heat, rain, snow; no fading at all, except the tail number embroidering, that's lost all its color.

I have a Mac's cowl cover that is nice.

I only wish their website and communications were better.

I did not see that I could have had an oil door opening that would have been nice.

And when I ordered, I got NOTHING until the cover showed up.  Not even a receipt for the order.

Another vote for Bruce's. I have a full fuselage one, and it covers all openings from the intake air behind the prop all the way to the tail cabin intake. No need for "plugs".  The cover has nice microfiber lining that protects the cabin glass, too. 

Give them a call, you might get a discount.

Both Bruces and Macs are popular here.  I have had a bruces for 10 years and it’s still serviceable.  Either will probably be fine.

Once you buy Bruce's cover, you will not buy anything else.  I have been a customer since 1993.

I have a Macs cover, and while I am not sure if this is sort of normal with covers, I noticed after using mine for about a week or so as I could put the plane in its hanger due to construction at the airport, that my side windows had hazing?? or micro scratches on them now. Not sure if Bruce's covers do that, but wanted to throw that out as a data point with Macs covers. The windscreen area has a soft lining on the inside, but that is the only place. Just FYI. YMMV

I'm on my third cover.  I had a boat upholstery / canvas / sail shop make my last one out of Sunbrella fabric using one of the previous covers as a template.  It's a little heavier and bulkier but it's lasted twice as long as the other covers.  I don't take it with me when I fly.  If I did, I'd probably buy another cover like the ones mentioned above.

I had a Bruces made for my Cherokee a few years ago - its was cheaper than Mac and of good quality. My Ovation came with a Mac canopy cover and empennage cover. I would say the quality is a little better but not enough to chose one over the other. My Macs cover has  Velcro opening sections so I can get into the cockpit and/or baggage area without taking the cover off. I dont know if that is an option for Bruces or not.

Interesting PIREP. I had the opposite experience, I called first and had a short timeline. They were very acommodating. It is a mom-and-pop shop, from what I can tell, so that might explain the variability. 

I did not know about the oil door option. That said, I did get the sense that they would customize if you asked. I just didn't know enough at that point to know what to ask for...

ETA: I had got the impression that Bruce's was the higher-pricepoint choice, and it was for what I priced out. I do have a set of their cowl plugs which are great. Also a pitot cover coming apart but it's probably really old, so I just need to get un-lazy and sew it.

I went with Mac's as they were a lot cheaper.  And I was looking mainly for insulation hold in heat from the oil pan heater.

I did not call or email, it was just strange that I placed the order and wasn't even sure it had gone through until the cover showed up.  Not a big deal, just a data point.

Interesting timing.  I just got a flyer in today's mail from Bruce's.  Reminding me that winter was coming and to order now.

Good timing on this as I have a move coming up in 0-3 years and there will be no hangars available (it's one of the nation's worst hangar drought areas). It would mean covering full-time on the ramp, or selling. Nearest hangars are a full hour away and simply priced out of what I consider normal ($600+). 

Do any of you ramp & cover full time?

My plane has literally spent every day of its life covered. The thought of chaining it down on the ramp like some abandoned animal feels...cruel.
