Glen Davis Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 I know this is a little unusual to be posting here on Mooneyspace but there are so many sharp minds and great resources on this forum, I decided to give it a try. Additionally, after 50 years as an aviator, I’ve come to learn that there’s a camaraderie amongst pilots and most of the time a level of trust that can be expected. I have been appointed the trustee for an estate of an elderly friend. It’s not a huge amount of money and she doesn’t have a great deal of assets. Nevertheless, I would like to find an attorney who practices in Connecticut to assist me. This is not my first time as a trustee. Instead of just picking a name out of a hat or in the old days we’d say from the “yellow pages”, (you young guys have no idea what that means) I thought I would see if there is a member of this group who would be able to assist me. I’d much rather deal with a fellow pilot and perhaps even a fellow Mooney owner than someone completely out of the blue. Please text me if you can help. 917 297 1111. AJ88V Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 You might want to reach out to AOPA. I had one time needing an attorney and had signed up for AOPA’s protection plan and was grateful to be connected to an aviation savvy attorney. Good luck! Quote
PeteMc Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 Not a lawyer... But I've been dealing with a few Trusts lately. Generally they are pretty straight forward, you may just need to read the Trust Document a couple of times. As for a lawyer... who created the Trust and how were you appointed? (Rhetorical question, don't give us the details in public.) But my point is, what's wrong with going to the attorney that created the Trust? Or was it done by the state? 1 Quote
GeeBee Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 That was my suggestion too. Go to the lawyer who created the trust. He/She knows best the wishes of the client. Quote
Bartman Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 In August my family member had a stroke, so I enlisted the help of a law firm that specialized in elder care to help with POA and advice. This gave me two very powerful documents for both healthcare and finances and allowed me to assist in her care and take care of all matters on her behalf. The advice I received along with the documents made this the best money I have ever spent. 1 Quote
Glen Davis Posted November 1 Author Report Posted November 1 I went to the attorney who created the trust. Thanks all 3 Quote
AJ88V Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 Wish I had read more carefully. Thought it was an aviation issue. Apologies. Quote
