Jeff_S Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Hey all. I tried to search for this but kept getting an error message, so at the risk of repeating any prior info, I'm curious what users of the New iPad (aka iPad 3) are seeing for battery life. They tout this one as having such better battery life, but maybe that's compared to the iPad 2. I had an original iPad, and last summer I flew all the way from Atlanta to Denver, 8 hours of flying time with it turned on constantly except during the fuel stop, and still had about 15% left. With my New iPad, I go out for a couple of hours and it's already down to 70%. This is turning OFF wifi and cellular data, but of course leaving the GPS active for moving map coverage. What are other people experiencing? Any other tips for extending battery life on these new units? Thanks! Quote

jnisley Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I recently upgraded to the iPad "3" after using the iPad 1 for several years, from what I'm experiencing battery life in the new iPad isn't any better perhaps a little worse then the old iPad. It's processor is noticeably faster running Foreflight but the old one did just fine. Make sure you clear all to unused apps that are running in the background. Quote
N601RX Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I've noticed that turning the screen brightness down just a little makes a big difference. On the lower settings it will last all day while inside, but it is not visible in the sunlight at that setting. Quote
