bnicolette Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 I hopefully having my front window replaced next week. What do you all recommend for the front window: Clear or Gray Tint? Definitely going to the 1/4". Quote
jetdriven Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 I would go gray tint. 1/4" as well. What's the going rate, parts and labor, for a new front bird repeller, anyways? Quote
pjsny78 Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Big Bucks...$$$$ I like clear for the front. Tint on the sides. Quote
bnicolette Posted May 7, 2012 Author Report Posted May 7, 2012 Mooney service center quoted 1K to an ultimate max of 1.5 parts and labor. Not too bad especially when the crazing is a safety issue. Quote
N601RX Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 I really liked the 1/4 solar gray on my side windows. It really wasn't that dark. I would consider for my front also. Quote
bnicolette Posted May 7, 2012 Author Report Posted May 7, 2012 Currently there are green tint on my sides and am wondering what the gray would look like on the front with them? I am leaning towards just going clear but am not certain. Thanks for the input guys. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Hi Brett. In my experience, the "smoke" tint is so minor, it does not interfere with vision either during the day or at night. I think it looks super!! We installed the smoke tint in Jolie's E and it looks great. Take a look in her photo gallery. Eventually you may change your side windows so maybe now would be the time to go smoke color on the front. That way you'll be all set when you do the side windows in smoke [gray]. Quote

aerobat95 Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 I had the green tint when I bought the plane and when I upgraded my windshield I went with the solar grey and LOVE IT.....would definately do it again. Quote
Mac201 Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 I am having my glass replaced while in for new interior. Light gray windscreen and front windows, dark in back. Quote
bnicolette Posted May 7, 2012 Author Report Posted May 7, 2012 I'm convinced and I really like the idea of looking towards the future of doing the side windows at some point. My ultimate fantasy would be paint sometime and would obviously change out the sides before that would ever happen. Thanks so much for the input fella's and I am going to go for the gray tint. One more question while were on the topic............What are the thoughts on the UV protection? My airplane is hangared so I'm not really worried about my interior and I don't do enough flying to worry about UV rays on me. Did you all do the UV protection? I didn't ask about the price difference for this and I am assuming the quoted price doesn't include this. Quote

aerobat95 Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 My sides have been replace with grey as well about a two years before I did the front. I love the look. It is hardly noticeable and I have not had any issues at all with visiblity. Quote
