PeteMc Posted July 22, 2024 Report Posted July 22, 2024 @OSUAV8TER... Is there really that much difference in batteries and battery minder technology that "BatteryMINDer" had to build separate versions for Concord and Gill? I really find that hard to believe. Even if they are really zeroing in on the differences between the CURRENT batteries, it would be minimal to have one unit with a switch. But then what happens when the new versions from both Concord and Gill come out? Your very specific minder is useless? Or in reality is it all marketing and it works just fine and oh, if you switch to the other brand, it will still work just fine. Quote

I mean they are a small business and almost 80% of the models I sell are Concorde. Rarely do I see someone who goes from Gill to Concorde and they have the corresponding model for them. Even if that happens, they get good money for their respective model on the used market. BatteryMinder desulfates and it temperature compensates for the appropriate voltage for your brand of battery. It works well. I have not seen any indication that it is just a way to get money from you through marketing gimmicks. Any product I become a dealer for, I have typically been using it for a long time and believe in its quality of performance. If I felt like there was deceptive business practices from them, I'll go find something else to invest in. Quote

Thanks. I just didn't think the batteries were THAT much different. Certainly not enough that a battery minder could tell the difference. I did note Gill uses the same model for both Sealed and Wet, which you'd think would be a BIG difference, yet they use the same device.... ADDED: Maybe something someone at OSH can push them on to get an answer. Edited July 22, 2024 by PeteMc Quote

Nico1 Posted July 22, 2024 Report Posted July 22, 2024 I'm curious, is Garmin offering discounts on database subscriptions this year? Quote

I noticed your price on the Brightline bags looks pretty good, too. What do you think of them? A BatteryMinder and a number of requisite accessories (Y-connector, TSO'd connectors etc) have been on my "nice to have" list for a while... I'm spacing out purchases (it's called the "you already have an airplane" spending plan ;). How much of a discount is the Airventure discount? Thanks! Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 22, 2024 Report Posted July 22, 2024 I'm not James but will offer that I use a Brightline bag, and even got the current gen after enjoying the first generation since the newer one has more customizing options. I especially like the add-on tumbler or big bottle holder! I drink a lot of ice tea, and my daily drinker is a 32 oz Yeti tumbler and it fits great in that accessory for the bag. I like the flexibility to add and subtract compartments so if you want to carry headsets in there (like a CFI perhaps) or turn it into a small overnighter, you can do that, or keep it slim for typical owner-pilot use like most of us here would probably do. I typically keep mine in the back seat and can usually get into a particular compartment without looking to grab batteries, or sunglasses, etc. I don't think anyone would regret using one, and I suspect if it ends up not working for you, you could re-sell here pretty quickly and get most of your money back. Thanks! @dkkim73 I use the Brightline and it is the last bag I will ever use. I've gone through several different bags over the years and once I got that, it was it. So everything in my store I personally use and believe in its value. Usually I buy the product and really use it before I seek out dealership opportunities. 1 Quote
BlueSky247 Posted July 22, 2024 Report Posted July 22, 2024 I will have to look into that bag. I got a "flight outfitters" from big river when I started the ppl, and tbh, I have grown to hate the thing. It's a small backpack version and nothing seems to work right in it. Quote
OSUAV8TER Posted July 31, 2024 Author Report Posted July 31, 2024 The Whelen 10% off promotion has been extended until Sunday, August 4th. The website still has the promotional pricing active. BatteryMinder runs until the end of August, 2024, and the Marsh blue washers are now permanent! Quote
