Need Donor 20:1 Landing Gear Actuator Gears

Hey Guys,

Currently working on getting these gears drawn up in CAD and possibly made, having them drawn up in both 20:1 and 40:1 gearing ratio. An individual was nice enough to loan me a new set of gears to use as masters but I need a set of gears that failed their inspections and were removed, not sure why someone would keep them after replacement, but hoping someone did as They need to do some destructive testing to determine the metallurgy of the gearing material so that the specification can call out for material that meets/exceeds current gear material and strength..As mentioned, it is destructive testing so thats why they would need to be donors. 

If anyone knows anyone..let me know.

Not sure if they’ll keep them or help, but Tom Rauch at Top Gun in Sacramento or Don Maxwell in Longview might have an old set laying around.

You might also be able to find an old set of 20/1 at a junkyard.  Maybe Beegles or @Alan Fox might have a non airworthy one?

We just removed the Dukes actuator with 40:1 gears from our airplane. We installed a Eaton actuator with the entire set up as well. But it’s for sale now.

Was it difficult to change between the two actuators?  Did you have to change out the emergency crank setup too?  It would be comforting to know there’s a solution in case the Dukes fails or the gears are bad.

Not sure why they should blush. That seems like a fair price in this market. Lasar is selling the same thing outright (without core trade in)  “Yellow tagged- Repaired” for about $12,000. That means they cleaned and greased it, put in an overhauled electric motor. The No Back Spring “has complied with Mooney SB M20-282 “ but they don’t claim it to be new.  It could fail the day after you install it. I doubt they provide any warranty. With core trade in it is about $10,000. 

It is just another one of the outrageous possible costs of owning an antique or near antique Mooney.

Gee, I don't know. Maybe because they only allow $2,000 for core and there is no way there is $10,000 worth of parts and work involved in their NOT guaranteed 'overhaul'. I'm a capitalist so if the market will bear it, more power to them, but they should most definitely BLUSH over charging that avaricious price!:angry:

Lasar has pretty much nothing , click on pretty much anything , and they don't have it...  And they are doing the same thing Mooney did , as far as stacking orders before purchase... Its a joke , If you have to buy 25 to order them , pay up front , and don't make people wait..  you are in the parts business...

They did , But Mooney is letting them buy the boots direct , and they are playing the same bullshit... I will buy 25 each , and resell them... NO wait !!!
